View Full Version : Scraps of Tape (Official - You Should Read)
One of my favorite instrumental (and just in general) bands. New songs (http://www.myspace.com/scrapsoftape) were released today for an album due in March. So stoked.
I'm liking the new songs, especially "Bring the Heavy." Interestingly enough, all the tracks have vocals, whereas this was rare on previous efforts.
Hopefully this new album has a song as poignant as "Fuckers Come to Collect."
Both the band's previous albums come highly recommended from yours truly.

With new albums from Scraps of Tape, 65dos, The Mercury Program, and If These Trees Could Talk (also announced today), 2009 is looking great for instrumental music.
Looks awesome, and coming from you this will probably be really good. Checking it out now, and thank you in advance!

Scraps Of Tape releases their third record. It’s filled with music that might speak to a bigger audience, but not for the sake of compromise. Instead we get music that shows us a lot of new confidence. They’ve chosen path, and the decision is based on experience instead of some nervous reaction to a crumbling industry. On Grand Letdown we get a lot more songs with vocals, the anger has been shaped into a sharper, yet poignant, tool, and the melancholy shows signs of carefully formulated optimism. The listener gets to hear an expression that’s been slowly worked out in its on time, and in an environment they themselves has chosen.

Starting with This is a Copy is this a Copy because I like the title.

More accessible, and for a long time I preferred it to Read Between, but I have come to appreciate the sheer rawness of the latter album moreso and a song like "Fuckers Come To Collect" just knocks me off my feet.

I'm with John on this one. Does little for me.
I enjoy the new songs. it will be another good release from Tendervision.
Thanks for the heads up.
EDIT: Wasn't on Sordo, and a quick search turned up nothing...
it's out for real, I'm listening to it.
So it's good, but I'm not sure about the heavy reliance on vocals on this record...
Some of the guitars on this album are so incredibly solid. When everything becomes all distorted and fuzzy in "Five Fingers"? Oh yeah. Love it.
Album's a grower. Really digging it.
no love for the new album apart from funkel ?
it looks like.
have you listened to the new Last Days album ?

Would I like the new album if I didn't like the last two?
