I was always curious to see which of these bands would win.

i vote Pumpkins. Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness clicnches it. Though I like more Pearl Jam records than Pumpkin records. AIC 3rd, Nirvana 4th, Soundgarden 5th.

agreed. Vs. & Vitalogy top any Nirvana record, yes, even Nevermind, they're most "influential".

Define "better".

i never said better initially. jra1 did. but i just personally think Pearl Jam had better records from start to finish than Nirvana. I also think the musicianship of Pearl Jam was much better.

what other musical definition of 'better' would there be? they had better songs, were better musicians and had better selection of albums

Being a good musician is so much more than being able to play really fast etc. Nirvana's song were way better than anything Pearl Jam did.

thats why i said aswell as being good musicians they had better songs and albums... ofcourse 'better' is always going to be opinion not fact

no shit. does Pearl Jam play at the pace of Slayer? No. What a stupid statement. Have you ever even listened to records like Vs. & Vitalogy?

I was being gay and listening to disco during the grunge days.
And by being gay, I mean being completely sweet.

Don't try to act like you don't get my point. Being a good musician is not about technical skill. And when you claim a band is "better" than another band, you should have something to back it up with, unless we're talking about individual taste, and that isn't even a discussion.
