View Full Version : If There Was a Remake of The Breakfast Club...

Today I was watching it on TV and for some reason started thinking about if there was a remake, who would they cast for each character.

I feel like Zac Efron would play Emilio's Character (the jock).

Michael Cera (from Juno) would play Anthony Michael Hall's (the brain).

I'm stumped on the rest though.

Who would play the basketcase, the princess, or the criminal??

I would like to see the princess still be a redhead, but I don't think lindsey lohan would fit the part.

I was thinking possibly zooey deshanel for the basketcase but I feel like i am 100% right about zac efron and michael cera being the athlete and brain.

This is just food for thought, I don't think there should ever be a remake.

Also should consider paul gleason (the principal, and the janitor as well).

opinions? thoughts?

emily blunt plays the basket case.

I understand this could be a good topic, but I really think a remake of Breakfast Club would be the worst thing ever.

But if they did cast Zooey as the basket case, I'd see it.

Yeah.. I think Zooey could totally pull it off. So with your vote for her, and my initial thought being her, I think it's safe to say she would do it just fine.

zac = the athlete
michael cera = the brain
zooey = the basketcase
?? = criminal
?? = princess
?? = principal guy
?? = janitor

Anything with Zac Efron is a fail for me so cast someone better.

I don't think Cera would do it.

i have to say, i would play the criminal. Especially if we actually got high in the movie, instead of smoke and stuff.

You do realize thats two different people right? Amy Adams and Isla Fisher.

But yes, a remake would be HORRIBLE.

why is everyone casting people in their late twenties/early thirties to play the girls? The only people so far that have been age appropriate are Zac Efron and possibly Michael Cera.

on a related note, i thought i read a while ago that there was in fact a remake in the works.

so yeah, if it unfortunately happened, i would be surprised if zac efron didn't play emilio's part. he seems perfect. not michael cera though

In the original Breakfast Club, only Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall were near the ages, Judd Nelson was 25 and Emilio Estévez and Ally Sheedy were 21

21 and 25 isn't as bad as being in your late 20's/early 30's. A lot of the people mentioned definitely look too old to ever be in a remake.

Agreed, but how often do they actually cast people who are supposed to be the right ages?

Also, it doesn't really matter cause a remake of this classic would be an abomination to the film industry.

MovieManCorey
01/29/09, 04:34 PM
He's everywhere. I was also thinking that Nick Cannon could be the jock. Daniel Stern might be a good principal too but he's not black.

I don't know, I just don't think people in their late 20's/early 30's should be cast as high school students. It's just weird to me.

And I agree that it would be an abomination.

Im watching The Breakfast Club right now, this film couldn't possibly be any better. A remake would literally be the worst idea ever. I know there was a rumor of a second being produced when the original was released, but Im so glad it never came to fruition.

Michael Cera would be the perfect choice for Anthony Michael Hall's character

Too bad a remake would suck.
