Let Go Hit Up CMJ

On September 15, 2005, melodic indie rockers Let Go (http://www.letgomusic.com) will be hitting the CMJ New Music Festival in NYC, hoping to reunite fans new and old. These Arizonians will hopefully be playing the legendary CBGBs (315 Bowery, NYC), provided the club is saved from corporate swine who want to turn it into condos (but that's another topic). In addition to CMJ, the band will also be playing a handful of preliminary dates before their big Fall tour. (dates below) Breakdowns, melodic riffs, and hard hitting vocals is what happens when these three veteran musicians from Tempe, Arizona come together to form Let Go. Featuring former members of seminal indie bands, Jamie Woolford (The Stereo, Animal Chin), Chris Serafini (The Stereo, Pollen) and Scott Hessel (Gloritone) are gearing up to bring their catchy hooks and harmonies on the road to promote their self-titled debut, which gets released nationally on The Militia Group on October 4th, 2005. More than anything, the music of Let Go speaks for itself. On Let Go, the band effectively lets go of pretension and makes a beeline for immediate melodic hooks, clever songwriting, and a harder-rockin’ sway than any of their previous bands. The pure, yearning poppiness of “Bombs Away” goes joyously off-roading through the dirt trails of your mind, while ‘Somewhere” showcases a keen melodic sense and soaringly epic vocals. It is this kind of intense and careful songwriting that has always been a trademark of Woolford (who also recorded and mixed the album). In reference to the band name and album art, Jamie explains enigmatically as usual, “Chris says Let Go has something to do with the spaceship he's been waiting for all his life... I guess the artwork reflects that. Now regarding the bear suit... well, that's just plain wrong.”
