"We regret to announce that we have let Staring Back go from the label after just a short few weeks.
Over the past few weeks our resources have gathered intel and it is our belief that Ryan has decided to move to Japan to become a high paid kobe beef butcher in Osaka.

ryan's girlfriend wrote a novel on the staring back message board.
she made some decent points that could be reasonable reasons for leaving.
but i didn't read the whole thing. it's seriously like tale of two cities long.
either way though, ben is the one getting royally fucked in more ways than one.
seriously, trying to kick somebody out of a band that they've been with since the beginning is pretty shitty.
then stealing somebody from a band that just signed to his label, that's double shitty.

For those keeping score at home:
YC wants Ben out
Ben owns/runs Takeover Records
Staring Back was on Takeover
Ryan plays guitar for Staring Back
Ryan's gf wrote a novel about Staring Back's problems and how Ryan is the only one who does anything
During the time the novel takes place, Ryan went to Ben for help/advice about his (Ryan's) band
Staring Back breaks up
Ryan now takes Ben's spot in YC (for at least the Japan tour, who knows if it is permanent)

Actually instead of Staring Back breaks up, it should say Staring Back is dropped from Takeover, Ryan quits Staring Back. The rest of it is accurate through what has been said to the public.

The whole thing is so ironic.
Ben helps out Ryan & listens to him during all his problems with Staring Back, then Ryan replaces Ben in YC (not yet official, but I think we can all assume).
Yellowcard is not Yellowcard without Ben.
They've definitely lost a lot of my support & respect.

I am highly against bands going on after losing the frontman, especially if the frontman is a vocalist. Guitars, drums, even violens, all can be replicated by another person with comprable skill levels. The frontmans persona can not. The frontman defines the band. This is really bullshit and I think that at this point Yellowcard should just form a new band.

ALL of this started when alex got kicked out and pete came back to the band because they had gone mainstream and were making money... ever since that happened... i just had a bad feeling about the band... but oh well

Ryan Mendez from Staring Back just filled in for Ben on the Japan tour. They asked him in a pinch to fill in for the Japan shows. He is not joining Yellowcard. From what I know Ben is still a member of Yellowcard.

Yeah, well I'm sure none of us fully know the situation and how a number of things contributed to what the majority of Yellowcard is/has done. In a band, especially when youre trying to make your band a succesful productive machine basically, if theres something wrong that just cant be fixed, you have to do whatever you can to make it work.

i don't think they'r able to kick ben out of the band, he did so much for them, I guess everyone sees ben rather then ryan MENDEZ in Yellowcard.Yellowcard just wouldn't be the same anymore

yes, ryan mendez from staring back filled in ben's spot on the YC japan dates.
no, it is not permanent.
yes, staring back has been dropped from takeover records a week after being announced as joined.
yes, ben rules and has worked his ass off for yellowcard and takeover from the very beginning.

actually, have you ever seen behind the music: journey? that new guy sounds exactly like steve perry.
and ben wasn't the frontman, but he was probably the key ingredient for the yellowcard sound.

MCR kicked their drummer a while ago, too.
It pisses me off when shit like this happens. Ben was a very good drummer.
Staring Back was a really good band, it's sucks that they are breaking up :(
