Who has one or used one? I play electro-pop in this (http://myspace.com/sweatshirtweather) band and I thought it might be cool to use when playing live. I'd love to hear some opinons.

I used to use one in my band (http://www.myspace.com/thefinalfall). The song "Sleep" has it at about 1:30. It is an awesome synth with tons of options. It is fairly complicated to dial in really great sounds, but once you get them and understand how it works it is awesome. And you can find them used on ebay for around $350 so they're fairly cheap. If you are a serious keyboard player I'd strongly suggest getting one.

Whoops, didn't realize you posted a link to your band also. I was referring to the OP.

The Alesis that is similar to the Micro Korg is much easier to use, however it is not nearly as powerful. The Micro Korg can pretty much do everything besides a piano sound, but it's a since, not a piano. I really think it's a better keyboard. I sold mine too, but only because I didn't need it in my band and would rather have a midi controller (because one thing I really want is piano sounds).

What it comes down to is preference though. Go to a Guitar Center and they should have both. Try them out and see what you like more.

Yes indeed.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

If you were to do MIDI in Pro Tools, could you use the patches on the MicroKorg as a sound bank?

if you're trying to imply the micron isn't as powerful as a microkorg, then you didn't know how to use the alesis synth properly. i have both, hardly ever use my microkorg.

I think they're both good and can do unique things, which is why I said it comes down to preference.

As far as using the Korg as a midi sound bank, I honestly do not know.

oh i thought you were making the claim that the korg is inherently more powerful than the micron regardless. yeah they're pretty different so it's all about personal preference. i mean i still have uses for both, i just mainly use the micron though i think the korg is easier to use because you can dial in sounds easier.

Well, I used to just use it as a MIDI controller, but I've just started to use the synthesis that it comes with...what can I say? Awesomeness in a rectangle.

I have one and love it. Picked one up for $200 from a guy who wanted to get rid of it.
