I've been running a rig involving a shitty peavey 12 channel mixer into a tapco usb interface for Logic 8. I'm looking into ditching the mixer completely and going with a firewire interface and a control surface.
Anyone work with the Presonus Firestudio? I'm wanting an 8-channel interface so that each cymbal and drum on a basic kit can be mic'd and tracked.
I'm skeptical on the all in one mixer/control surface/interface bundles, as I would like to keep all pieces of gear separate and upgradeable, but if it's best to go all in one, I may do so.
yay or nay on the firestudio? I'm shooting for around $500 or less, before ebay prices.
I'm also thinking of coupling that with Presonus' 8 channel mic pre, but I'm not sure about that, may just get an art gold.
