Glassjaw (www.glassjaw.net) played tonight at 7:05pm at The Downtown (www.thedowntown.com) on Long Island. This show was unannounced, and I think a lot of die hard fans who have been waiting to see the band, may be pissed the show wasn't publically announced.

All I know is my friend spent $200 on tix for Irving Plaza and Atlantic City to see them with the used and glassjaw dropped off and ticketmaster wouldn't give a refund. He;s the most diehard glassjaw fan ever. It sucks he couldn't of atleast been at this show

Cool that it was a benefit. Can't complain about not knowing bout that. However, why is it that they are playing the Hammerstein Ballroom, not the night I spent 300 dollars in tickets for, but the second show, which was added later on anyways? That doesn't make sense.

If anyone was a true "die hard" glassjaw fan, then they would know about this show. There was a topic on the glassjaw.net message board regarding todays show, about someone hearing a rumor, and manny replied to it, basically saying that they were playing. They did it to play for the benefit, and to warm up a little bit, ya know?

If anyone went to the throwdown remembering never show last night at the downtown, then anyone there knew about it because they basically announced it. After that mad kids from that show posted myspace bulletins and what not, so if you didnt get one, then im sorry for you, you just might suck a little.

i happen to go to the downtown earlier today just to buy a ticket at the box office to make sure i had one. When i asked one of the staff members about glassjaw playing he said he couldnt tell me, all he said was, "just make sure you buy a ticket"

so glassjaw started a little after 7, daryl looked ok, he did look a little white and seemed as if he was sick still. But i give him props for doing any live shows the way he has felt the past couple of years.

They opened with Star Above My Bed, which alot of people got real into, and i for one couldnt believe that they played that song, and even opened with it, it got everyone excited and energized. Mu empire was next, followed by ape dos mil, cavalclade, worship and tribute siberian kiss, and they closed with stuck pig...... im not exact sure if that was the order and i could be leaving out a song. but hey, it was a good time. I have to say that i really wanted to hear more from EYEWTKAS, but hey, they are the band so what ever they choose is what is good. Oh shit i forgot, they also played Natuarl born farmer.

they only decided a few days ago to hop on the bill. if they had made a big announcement, the local bands that were already on the bill would have had to deal with the chaos that comes along with it. it's not fair to force all of those "die-hard" fans on an unassuming charity benefit. glassjaw did the right thing of keeping it lowkey and playing first so as not to mess up the bands' schedules.
i just wish you kids that did go had some courtesy and hadn't left the second glassjaw got off that stage.

I remember back in the day when Jay Tea was a crazy motherfucker who used to yell and jump around a lot. Now, he's really mellow. Except on stage, on stage he's pretty awesome, but back in the day, he just used to scream shit. That rocked. ASOB is pretty bitchin, as is Mike Costa.

On the Glassjaw note, that sucks for you people that didn't go. I didn't go, and I am a Glassjaw fan, but it doesn't suck that much for me, because I don't care all too much. I saw them once, about two years ago, and that makes me happy...AND they played Natural Born Farmer at that show, as well.

bad bands? did you even go? and if you did go, did you bother to stay after Glassjaw played? Aeroplane Pageant was great and All Grown Up was amazing as usual. It is always fun to watch a seven foot guy sing and jump around the stage.

I have to admit however that I felt bad for the band following Glassjaw. It was too small dudes playing acoustic guitars. Imagine a set of all of Dashboard's softest songs. Needless to say, not many people payed attention to them.

the bands after were defintly good, and i was surprised everyone left, $10, why not stick around and see the other bands play. right after glassjaw i got a mad chicken fingers and fries and stuck around. a little expensive for dinner.

I booked this show and all the shows at the downtown (and contrary to popualr opinion im ten times cooler then jt).


Obviously daryl is fighting a serious sickness which prevents him from doing a lot of previously planned things,so wouldnt it be better for them to not tell people theyre playing in case they cant play. If they didnt play today no one coulda been dissapointed cause it wasnt announced.
I mean seriously show a little compassion..Its not as if he is some flaky drug addict who cancels shows cause he is on a coke binge.He cancels shows cause he is in the hospital.

Of course it sucks that a lot of fans didnt know,but all the area fans have the choice to buy tickets for used show on aug 31st. they confirmed the suprise show yesterday,literally.

they played for FREE. a band that huge could charge dickloads of money,but opted to make sure all the money went towards a worthy cause..like seriously what a bunch of pricks they are.
