"Dry" from Song Of The BlackBird, one of my favorite videos.

On Feb 13 Anti-Records will release his new album entitled Animals in the Dark. I just found a copy and its crazy good. The level of soul this man puts into his music is unmatched. This might very well be his best work yet.

wow, i just checked out the new album, this is great stuff. very strong throughout, although favourite tunes (on my first listen through) are probably "old devils" & "let the rain come in". one hell of a voice. been a fan of this man since a poster (mikey horror) recc'd him to me ages back, but thanks to everyone for reminding me he had a new album this year. i'm lovin' this

this guy's voice is so great. he sounds years older than he really is.

everyone needs to hear this album, but probably won't check it out due to the lack of those whisper singing styles which everyone seems more comfortable with round here haha. this is just so so good though, so honest & raw. anyone with a passing care for folk, acoustic, great, music really should give this a spin

it's already on mine, along with one other album so far this year haha. i know i only got animals in the dark today, but i can't stop listening. i feel like i just want to shake the computer screen (since geographically, & quite probably legally, i can't shake every aper's heads) & tell them to start listening to one of the best records they may come across for a long time to come

It's a quality record. We're almost 2 months into the year, and there have already been a few really great albums released. 2009 is awesome!

haha. I doubt many people on this board would be into him. sadly. It's a bummer how it's so hard to keep threads like this one or that Sticky Fingers thread I made alive. :-( ohhhh well I guess.

Faves off the album so far?

Mine are probably... Johnny Law, Old Devils, Lifetime Underground. But they're all good.

Love his lyrics & his style. He's so different from everything I have ever listened to.
If only I weren't too lazy to drive to DC.

Not sure if it's been posted somewhere else here, but he did a Daytrotter Session including a Bad Religion cover.

Really good album, I probably still prefer Song of the Blackbird, great stuff nonetheless.

Decent album, think I gave it a 6.5 or something. Lyrics are questionable in parts.

New album? I have got to keep up better, this is great news. I loved his last record. The new song is sounding great too.

Been listening to the new (well most recent) album a lot lately, along with much of his work. He sure has a strong body of work now, & he'll only get stronger.

Why this guy doesn't have a bigger following here & everywhere I'll never understand. Just so damn good, such a rich sound to his organic feel.
