Well heres the story...I work at a radio station so I got 4 tickets to go to this. I like coheed, I've never heard trivium, and slipknot I always thought was a joke of a band. I decided to go just for coheed and had 2 friends that were kinda into slipknot so we ended up going. Heres the rundown of the show.

Trivium was up first. I had no idea what these guys were but they turned out decent for the kind of music they do I guess. The two guitarists are damn good musicans. I'm just not into that type of music but it wasnt bad.

Coheed was up next and following such a heavy act like trivium I didnt know how the crowd was going to respond to them. Well pretty much, the crowd didnt respond to them at all. Nobody seemed to know them or were paying any attention to them, and as far as the band went...they were just okay. They seemed to play the songs a little harder and with unnessacary screams just because they were on this tour. Their setlist was ridiculusly short for being direct support..only 6 songs. I'm not familar with all their stuff but heres their complete set with what i know.
-Welcome Home
-???
-Gravemakers and Gunslingers
-No World for Tomorrow
-???
-???

After about a 45 minute wait, Slipknot finally took the stage. I'll be the first to admit, I know nothing about them and wasnt really looking forward to it but they completely changed my outlook on them. They put on one of the best(if not THE best) live show I have ever seen. My friends had written down in their phones the setlist so heres what they got. They claim its complete and in order.
-Sic
-Eyeless
-Wait and Bleed
-???
-Me Inside
-Before I Forget
-???
-Dead Memories
-Left Behind
-Disasterpiece
-Purity
-Everything Ends
-Psychosocial
-Duality
-People=shit
---encore---
-Surfacing
-Spit it Out

Thats all I got, Figured I'd post it for anyone that is interested. I never thought I'd say it but slipknot made a new fan tonight. They turned a pop punk kid who likes bands like Fireworks and New Found Glory to a "Maggot". ok, maybe not a maggot just yet but I'll definately go see them again if they ever come to my shitty town in the middle of Illinois again.

18 songs? wow, I wish bands were allowed to do that in Portland, I hate venues sometimes, The Hawthorne cut August Burns Red off 1-2 songs early because it was 11pm (they played 12 though).

Well, this show/tour is also a bigger package and an arena show so it's probably on a set time schedule and ends at the same time each night, which iis probably 11:00.

haha umm....I have been to Hawthorne Theatre where a show lasted until 12:30am. It was on a weekend though there may be a noise ordanance or something for week nights. Also, Brand New played 23 songs at Roseland a couple years ago....so yeah....bands CAN play long sets in Portland lol

OK, I'm travelling back in time and going to that Brand New show. 23 songs? That's ridiculous! Do you have/know their set?

Wow, Coheed is playing "Al The Killer". I'm not positive, but I don't think they've played that live before this tour.

Something like this (http://intunemusiconline.com/2007/05/29/brand-new-anathallo-colour-revolt-atlantic-city-528/), I'd imagine (same tour/time-frame):

Coca-Cola
Luca
Archers
The Shower Scene
Millstone
Limousine
Okay I Believe You, But My Tommy Gun Don’t
Sic Transit Gloria..Glory Fades
Jaws Theme Swimming
Untitled Demo 05
Play Crack The Sky
Untitled Demo 01
Welcome To Bangkok
Sowing Season (Yeah)
Jesus Christ
Handcuffs
Degausser
You Won’t Know

Probably a few more Deja songs tossed in to the date if it was 23 songs. I've seen Brand New headline and do anywhere from 12 (private show so doesn't really count) to about 20. I'd say 15 or 16 from them is standard, which is the "scene standard".

I found the complete Coheed setlist:
Welcome Home (6+ minutes)
Al the Killer (4+ minutes)
Gravemakers and Gunslingers (4+ minutes)
No World For Tomorrow (5+ minutes)
The End Complete (which one ? the whole thing is like 25+ minutes)
The Crowing (3+ minutes)
IKSSE3 (9+ minutes)

I added the lengths.. so even six songs is at least 45 minutes.. about normal for direct support.

Yeah, 7 songs for Coheed becomes upwards of 40 minutes. And The End Complete, meaning The End Chapter III.

I'm suprised nobody died at this show. People tore up the floor they put down to cover the ice and basketball court underneath. Not only did they tear these giant pieces of flooring up, they then proceeded to jump on top of them and surf while the crowd passed them around. It was pretty amusing.
