Hey guys, hope you have a wonderful extended weekend and a very happy Labor Day. Not that much new music, just a couple things on my mind. Have a great week, and good luck in school!

Forgive Durden (www.purevolume.com/forgivedurden)- I think they should be the biggest buzz band out there right now. Their new demos are simply the best music I have heard in a while. Everything I loved about their debut EP is still there, but now they’ve got the edge of technicality and creativity. This is most definitely one of my most anticipated albums, but the thing is we have to get this band signed in order for that release to occur quicker. So please labels, sign this band, you won’t regret it, and everybody spread the Durden love. If you haven’t heard their new songs, head over to their purevolume (http://www.purevolume.com/forgivedurden) ASAP. So good. Scott Weber certainly has the Seattle ear.

Bright Eyes (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00070FWUG/002-4148889-8767207?v=glance)- I just want to specifically recommend going back to Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. When Conor released his double album set, Digital was kind of overshadowed by I’m Wide Awake. I know that I personally didn’t give it as much attention. It takes a little work, but really listen to the album. It is such an accurate artistic portrayal of disillusionment and detachment from reality and life, whether it be from alcohol and drugs, or just feeling overwhelmed by your atmosphere and the world around you. Unfortunately I found myself relating to a lot of moments, but it was enlightening to hear someone transcribe those feelings musically. Definitely a brilliant piece of art, definitely not without shortcomings, but an achievement nonetheless.

The Format (http://www.purevolume.com/theformat)- I think it was Jason who posted the other day about anticipation for their new album, and let me say I feel the suffering. I adore this band, and have the highest of hopes for their next effort. Counting down the days…

Oh, I almost forgot...

Coheed and Cambria- Good Apollo, I’m Burning Star IV,

Forgive Durden really are amazing. A tour between them and Gatsby's would be perfection.

Wow, I just put Digital Ash on my record player about twenty minutes ago, and now I read this. I think Digital Ash is the real gem of the two albums (and stands as the only one I've bought); I'm Wide Awake was a solid, typical Bright Eyes album, but this wasn't, and it was amazingly well put together. It's slowly becoming one of my favourites of 2005.

I understand the Gatsby's comparison. But the sounds are actually very different. Though there are similarities, neither of the Forgive Durden demos would have fit on Ribbons and Sugar, and plus, Gatsby's doesn't sound like Ribbons and Sugar anymore. Also, I don't understand why there can't be more bands with the "Gatsby's sound." It's basically just the essence of technical and creative pop-rock, and hopefully new bands can expand on it and even surpass Gatsby's. *chuckles to self*

no i completely agree....i think i've played that one song from their EP, I am a Heart Watson..., like 8 times in a row. They're from the same area though right? Let me make a rec. Immortal Technique. If you like good rap(in the vein of mos def, blackstar, talib, kanye) then give this guy a listen...so of his lyrics are just unbelievable.

Dude, good call on the Format. I can't believe that they arent just huge. I just listened to the Snails EP, and that makes me want new music from these dudes right now.

Kinda funny that I bought their CD just because I loved Nate's guest spot on that Straylight song, and I was like "Who is that guy?" :)

I've said it once, i'll say it again...the Seattle Invasion tour should be:

Gatsby's American Dream headlining
This Providence, Forgive Durden, Daphne Loves Derby openers.

how do the new forgive durden songs sound like Gatsby's? I'm a huge GAD fan, and I just...don't see it. Sorry. You tell me the similarities, because I'm not seeing them. Gatsby's Ri/Sugar era didn't even have choruses, and Forgive Durden has very clearly defined verse/chorus structure.

Just make it a whole festival with Vendetta Red, Minus the Bear, MxPx, Pedro the Lion, Emery, Acceptance, Time to Fly...all those as well, heh

I didn't mean new music that came out this week, I mean bands to recommend that were completely new to the readers. This isn't a new releases section, and out of those I'd only recommend Death Cab.

does anyone remember a band called adios? i remember them doing doing the "gatsby's" thing before gatsbys.

Is this (http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=155910) who you're talking about? Because that's not too similar.
