alright well i saw Green Day last night and i'd just like to let u all know how it went.

- Jimmy Eat World was great live
- whatever opening band there was (they didnt say their name) sucked
- Green Day played for over 3 1/2 hours
- Billie Joe Armstrong had a random kid from the audience come up to play his guitar for a few mintues and then he let the kid keep the guitar
- They ended with a huge fireworks display (how much money was this?)
- I saw a lot of "scene"kids most of whom could have easily been the Poster-Child for Hot Topic
- I went in the pit and accidentally hit a kid with a My Chemical Romance shirt in the face :)
- I finally discovered exactly what marijuana smells like...yep.
- Green Day played a bunch of cover songs including "We Are the Champions" and some Operation Ivy song

i would like to say that i do think these guys are overrated a lot which is why some people hate em but they did put on the best live show i've seen next to The Mars Volta

no offense but green day does that on every show, random people from audience play a song, keep the stuff, "we are the champions", I wish that every show would be unique cuz that be badass having some different every night.

I was there too.

-Against Me! didn't suck, but you're right, no one knew who they were.
-The lame barrier in the middle of the floor was wicked fucking lame.
-The fact that parking at the stadium was $35 was fuckin lame.
-The should have let JEW play longer.
-The merch stands were total shit.
-I felt rather old, I think the average age was 14.
-I was pretty happy with the Green Day set, it was way better than I expected.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but its late.

The only reason I'm going to this show on the 12th in Indy is to see one of my favorite bands play, which is JEW. I'm also hoping that Against Me! is opening. Green Day is just meh to me. If they play some old stuff, it'll be ok.

I went last year and the mars volta opened up for them it was incredible.

They didn't let a kid go up on stage though.

I bought a fake mosh ticket from this dude on the corner and the guy actually let me in.

i would go to the show, but only to see jimmy eat world then leave after them, but that would be a waste of money if they aren't playing long.

I wish I coud have done that. They supposedly gave the first 4000 people the 'special' wristband to get right up front. It was so stupid.

and i'm sorry but i really didnt like Against Me. the only sound i could hear was the bass drum, the guitar was incredibly weak, and their vocals sounded like a combination of The Offspring and Flogging Molly but also weak like the guitar. i had been confusing them with Rise Against. i like those guys.

yeah no one knew who they were and i'm surprised cuz apparently they're popular and there did seem to be some real punk ppl there with Mustard Plug shirts on etc.

a friend of mine went...said it was pretty good...and how could you say against me! sucks? Dunno. I share a similar level of confusion in my discovery that you think Hawthorne Heights are great.

Apparently I missed these "punk" people you saw. Because half the people were under the age of 16, 1/4 were parents, and 1/4 were retarded drunk assholes.

I forgot to mention I got in a fight with some chick. That was certainly fun.

heh, I got the "special" wristband, It was pretty sweet.

It does suck though that even though it's been a year since I saw them last, Green Day doesn't change the set, except for this time they took out homecoming. I wish they would at least change up the antics and some more of the songs for every different tour.

And only giving Jimmy 1/2 an hour wasn't good, it really would have been better if they had more time.

An arena is not a good environment for them.

No one there knew "knowledge'. It was saddening.
And an arena definitely isn't where AM! shine their brightest, but I thought they did really well considering it was an arena, and no one was into them.

I was there also. The barrier in the middle of the floor sucked. Jimmy Eat World definately should have been able to play longer. And Green Day were good when they were actually playing songs. Billie Joe spent too much time seeing how loud he could get each side of the audience and to get them to repeat what he says. He probably did each about 5 times, it got really repetitive and annoying.

i was also at the show...

-parking was fucking expensive as shit
-jimmy shouldve played for a lot longer (they had time to play the middle but didnt have time to play lucky denver mint... that's unnacceptable)
-the barrier in the middle of the pit was brilliant... everyone in the "stage side" pit had their own personal space. very comfortable
-against me! had very little crowd interaction which i thought was dissapointing
-green day put on the SAME SHOW as last time. thats fucking stupid. i felt very cheated considering i knew what was going to be played and what hijinks they were going to pull
-the fireworks display was awesome
-the lady at the Dunkin Donuts that we stopped at put my steak, egg, and cheese sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel. whore.

I love that song. I sang it at the top of my lungs the last time I saw Green Day play.

Sure, if by brilliant you mean completely retarded. I felt so fucking cheated. I spent $50 a ticket, and couldn't even get near the stage. They could have at least given people a heads up that they were going to do that so I would have known to get there early.

I love that song. I sang it at the top of my lungs the last time I saw Green Day play.
Yes, I belted that shit. But no one else even knew it. So sad.

sorry i only know that Billie Joe said it was an Operation Ivy song. for the most part i'm not a fan of punk music.
