I don't normally listen these genres but I'm in the mood lately and I'm working on a mix. I'm looking for songs along the lines of these...

as i lay dying - confined
in flames - take this life
devil wears prada - hey john
soilwork - distortion sleep
atreyu - ex's and oh's

any help would be appreciated!

Bleeding Through <- especially their old stuff. "this is love, this is murderous" is the best.
Hate The Day
It Dies Today
Evergreen Terrace
August Burns Red
Unearth
Gwen Stacy

I figured you could figure out which songs you wanted.
but if you want ill be happy to throw out my preferred songs

Seconding the August Burns Red, Haste the Day, and Gwen Stacy. You might also like MyChildren MyBride, Norma Jean, The Chariot, Underoath, Inhale Exhale, Agraceful, In Fear and Faith, and Oh, Sleeper. Just look for the songs you like, but I'll recommend August Burns Red's Composure to start out with.

I definitely agree with Inhale Exhale (try "It's Myself Vs. Being A Man"), In Fear & Faith ("The Taste of Regret"), Underoath (mostly Define the Great Line), Norma Jean (especially the album The Anti-Mother)

But you may also want to try blessthefall (especially the new songs "To Hell And Back" and "We'll Sleep When We're Dead"), Lower Definition, Jamies Elsewhere, LoveHateHero, and maybe Still Remains.

All That Remains, Underoath, Old Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me The Horizon, and Cancer Bats. Everyone else mentioned above is good too.

i'm not too big on the whole metalcore thing, but i do enjoy a few good bands.

Sons of Abraham-What Brings May Flowers
Dead to Fall-Bastard Set of Dreams and Stand Your Ground

villainy and virtue is probably the only dead to fall album i really like.

EDIT:

you said hardcore too, so did you mean hardcore as a genre itself? because if that's the case listen to Comeback Kid, preferably Wake the Dead, Bane, The Warriors, and Underminded.
