So I gamble on football, it's a good time. It makes the Chiefs/Bengals game relavant to an Eagles fan with no fantasy players on either team. Last year I finished in the black, I won around $500 total, but I was too broke to bet decent money. But sometimes there are iffy picks, and I may need advice, so what I'll do is post the games for week 1 right here, and if you think you know what's going on, out of all the games, if you'd bet on any, which one, maybe a little why, and how much (i.e. how certain)...

I never bet on week one, I see 5 games I'd do right now that I'll mention at the bottom, but betting on week 1 is too risky because you only have last year to base things on. But here are the games, so lets see who can be my gambling advisors for '05.

Oak @
NE -7.5

Denver -4.5 @
Miami

Bengals -3.5 @
Cleveland

Houston @
Buffalo -5.5

Tenessee @
Pittsburgh - 7.0

Chicago @
Washington -5.5

NO @
Carolina - 7.0

TB @
Minn - 6.0

Seattle @
Jacksonville -3.0

Jets @
KC - 3.0

Arizona @
NY Giants - 2.5

St. Louis -5.5 @
SF

GB @
Detroit -3.0

Dallas @
SD -4.5

Indianapolis - 3.0 @
Baltimore

Philly -1.0 @
Atlanta

If I were betting this week, I'd jump on Denver, Washington, Carolina, St. Louis, and Green Bay with more money on St. Louis destroying SF and Green Bay doing the same to Detroit.

Let me know what you all think and we'll see who hits money after week one.

NE -7.5- i know everyone is picking new england...but with that spread, and moss, i'd go with the raiders to cover it...i'd take a small bet on it.
Denver -4.5 @
Miami-denver will take the spread and then some...the dolphins will need a couple weeks to at least sort out there running and what not, and they have an average defense now.

Bengals -3.5 @
Cleveland-no contest. the bengals will end up winning by at least 2 td's.

Houston @
Buffalo -5.5-this one is tough, i'd just leave it be. but buffalo should win

Tenessee @
Pittsburgh - 7.0-pitt will take the titans pretty easily...but you never know about mcnair...just leave it simple, and don't put money on it.

Chicago @
Washington -5.5-pick the bears to take the spread...the redskins are down and out every other year...maybe you get lucky

NO @
Carolina - 7.0-watch out for the saints this year, they could easily take the spread on this game, and gain points over the weeks.

TB @
Minn - 6.0-tampa bay is slowly becoming a 49'ers type team...not enough anything. minnesota, easily

Seattle @
Jacksonville -3.0-leave it be. both teams are great. very close game

Jets @
KC - 3.0- take the jets. personally, i love pennington, and i think the jet's will be amazing this year

Arizona @
NY Giants - 2.5-i'm a huge giants fan, but this seems to be the upset of the week. i'd go with the giants based on bias...but it could be close

St. Louis -5.5 @
SF-this is going to be a fucking blowout...the 49'ers are nothing anymore. take the rams, and take it with alot of cash on them.

GB @
Detroit -3.0-only 3 points for this game?? this is an easy pick..javon walker, donald driver, favre for at least another year....watch favre pull out another miracle, and dedicate the win to the hurricane relief...he just loves inspiration.

Dallas @
SD -4.5-the chargers are amazingly potent this year. i'd leave it be, just because the cowboys get lucky once in awhile, but the chargers are an easy pick

Indianapolis - 3.0 @
Baltimore-colts will score hard on the ravens. pick them with a decent amount, and the spread

Philly -1.0 @
Atlanta-the eagles will play all over the falcons. just trust me, it will happen.

i never, ever pick the Eagles in close games...I get worked up enough, I don't need to throw money into the equation...good amount of picks though, I see some good logic

just an FYI to everyone else, i'm not a millionaire, if you're saying to pick more than 5 or 6 games, you're picking too many and are set to lose more than you know

i use sportsinteraction.com...you pay them through paypal and can get as into it as you want. last year i started with $50 and bet $5 and $10 games, worked up through solid combos. i pulled out $500 when I had almost $1000 built up and played big bets with the rest and eventually lost it, but still came out on top. they key is not to bet just to bet, you'd be surprised how often the 'easy ones' or 'fence picks' bite you in the ass.

i might have to get in on this action...ive never done it before, but have always been curious.yeah, i'm really thinking about it. maybe swapping pics and splitting pots and what not. i'm only going to put in 30 a week max, but if i could pull out double or whatever the money, i can't say i wouldn't be happy.
