I know that I am a random poster here. But I felt that there was a lack of chat about music that actually meant SOMETHING to people. I mean, yeah, ...Is A Real Boy means more to me than most other records.

But when I hear the following 8 lines, I can't explain myself.

I wake up and the phone is ringing,
Surprised, as it's early.
And that should be the perfect warning,
That something's, a problem.
To tell the truth I saw it coming,
The way, you were breathing.
But nothing can prepare you for it,
The voice, on the other, end.

Does anyone else have this moment? Where is it? And why?

Do you really think people will spend their time discussing music that doesn't mean something to them? Seems like you are simply trying to project here.

Like for instance, whenever I hear Death Cab, I'm taken four years back in time to when Title & Registration was playing in my car every single day. And I see and smell bright white snow and a yellow sun that hints of the spring to come.

Whenever I hear Tiny Vessels, I think of the time it played so loudly in my head the first time I told my ex(surprise?)-gf that I loved her.

Or whenever I hear a song by Mando Diao, I feel like I did that day with all my best friends in Sweden when we went to a festival and saw them play live.

Or whenever I hear Manchester Orchestra's new song, I feel such thrill and excitement about the new record to come.

Or whenever I hear Andy Hull's Love, Come Save Me (RAGC!), and feel the endless frustration that a broken heart treats you to as he sings "I can try again if you wanted me to, I swear I'd be a better man. If roses and daisies won't do the trick, I'll create another perfect plan."

Or when I hear McCartney / Beatles Let It Be, and I'm taken back to fourth grade or something when I was going to perform that with my guitar in front of my entire class only to impress a girl, and how nervous I was.

All of this means something, as does pretty much every other song and record that is played more than an initial four or five times in my library of music. It's how music is defined by me; How does it make me feel? Good/bad? Can I tie memories to it? Does it MEAN anything?

Edit: This is one boring Saturday afternoon.

Yeah, but I mean something, literally life-changing. The aforementioned lyrics by LCD Soundsystem are an example.

The following is another example:

Charlie you're not my Charlie anymore
You're screwing it up
You're killing your soul with an audience looking on
If I hadn't left early last night
I would have made a speech to you
How you're not the only one you're going to hurt
If you don't believe me
I don't believe in you

The lyrics above have literally saved my life. Any other stories?

Oh well, nobody can say I didn't try.
