I was thinking to myself, do girls prefer guys that say they are "in a band"? Or maybe it doesn't matter at all... Just curious about some of your responses. I was in a band for awhile and I agree with this statement to a certain extent.

For sure. The second a guy is holding an instrument, he gets girls attention. Being in a band is just about the sexiest thing ever.

Truth. But just playing an instrument also helps

Not if it's a shitty band. Though that might just be my preference, seeing as groups like Metro Station, The Maine and 3oh3 have groupies

we think that guys who are musicians are more sensitive and/or need to be saved. we think we can help them somehow. and it's just a tad sexier.

Wouldn't you rather a girl like you for you over the fact you're in a band?

If it means they are getting girls way out of their league, I don't really see why they would care so much. Well, I do see, but, they may not be complaining anyway.

Even if it's a banjo?
If it's a bad generic band they're in it's a turn off. But I do tend to go for the musically inclined, band or not.

No, there really aren't any variable in this discussion. If you're in a "band," the attraction ensues. There's a reason that most people with instruments don't know how to use them. I blame shallow girls for the bad music of today.

Notice how all those douchebags who wield acoustic guitars, have a bit of facial hair, flannel shirts unbuttoned just a slight bit and sing about falling out of love always garner attention from dumb girls?
Yeah. I could write a song about throwing poop at senior citizens, and at least a few hot chicks would rub against my dick.

Yeah, being a musician definitely helps to get girls. Write a song about them, they'll instantly take their pants off. Fact.

see, 3-4 years ago I would agree, since there are some really not attractive guys that morph into Brad Pitt (fight club era Brad Pitt) the moment they step behind a drumset/piano or slip into a guitar strap. BUT, and this is a huge cog in the machine, by this logic it would mean guys like Trace Cyrus are sexy. There definitely needs to be a rule that the instrument can only help so much.
Exactly the reasons I need to be in a band. *cough* It's not about the music, it's the girls. Right?

Throughout high school I was all about hanging out with the band... and I thought I'd been over it since then until an incident a few weeks ago. But that's irrelevant. I say yes, but we all eventually grow out of it.

many do not. If you get the chance to go to the Rainbow Bar and Grill on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood sometime, go and check out how many slutty women who are well into their 40s are there hanging on washed-up 80s hairband dudes. It's fascinating to watch, plus it's a fun place to go chill.

See, this is where I apply the: non douche bag rule. When a guy in a band has an ego, it's a huge turn off for me. It's really just the modest band members (except Gabe) who benefit from being in a band. Then again, there are chics who would find Trace hot just because he's in a band, although those of us with brains wouldn't feel that way.

Essence of this conversation: guys in bands are who we want to spend the rest of our lives with. Or at least have a one night stand with.
Also, I just got back from Dublin. I had a really awesome time.

Haha one night stand with guitarist, rest of life with drummer sounds reasonable.
Oh cool where did you stay? It's an awesome place if you have stuff to do haha. I'd love to go to London someday soon.

Done and doner-er. Or at least I wish. haha.
My mom's boyfriends brother actually lives in Dublin, so my friends and I stayed there most of the time. But funnily enough, they were coming to London the night before we left, so we stayed at Avalon House (5ish minutes from Temple Bar) on our last night. We managed to find a ton of things to do, I really liked Dublin Castle actually. And there was a really great bar in temple bar - Boar's head meat house, or bear's head, or some sort of animal's head. But yeah, London is a great place to visit as well.

Oh thats really cool. Temple Bar is the place to be in Dublin so it's good you stayed near it at least once haha. Wow I know that bar but the name escapes me right now. You should have gone to the Bad Ass restaurant or Eamonn Doran's they are great haha. Worst thing about Temple Bar is it's crawling with emo/scene kids. Hopefully I'll get to go to London soon.

I loved the decor inside, and it's cocktails were some of the best I've had. We tried pretty much the whole menu, and loved all of them. We wanted to bar hop, but, sadly instead of emo/scene kids (which I love) the place was more populated with trashy dudes who stole my friends wallet. So, that kind of put the kaputz on that plan. But, noted if I ever go back.

Haha well we are famed for our drunkness haha. There are a lot of shitty guys on out streets at night. But the emo/scene kids are as bad for getting drunk on the streets and starting fights.

Thanks for making this thread good guys. I actually made my first thread on Personal life and it didn't get locked....YAY! I think it really depends. It always was kind of weird seeing these band "groupies" sometimes even when a band sucks or isnt getting any listens.
