the blood brothers are pretty talented.....i imagine if you can pull off a blood brothers cover you can pull almost anything else off.
Why don't you just jam, and start writing your own songs?

Why don't you just jam, and start writing your own songs?our drummer wants to "find our sound" because he and our bass player listen to acdc and other classic rock and the guitar players listen to this genre so thats why we cover songs and not write anything of our own yet
Play some SOAD, it sounds good and is simple. Try to cover some clean Thursday, once you get simpler songs like Cross Out The Eyes right then you can move up to stuff like Understanding In A Car Crash.

Finch.
You'll be able to pull off a lot from their first album pretty easily.

Brand New.
First album's mad easy.
Second the rhythm parts are easy. The others will take some talent, but I know plenty of people who can play it.

You should try Armor For Sleep, some of their stuff is pretty easy on drums.

Not sure of you like them or not, but green day's stuff is like easier than pie, and its pretty fun to play, but thats just me.

Dunno if it's your sort of thing but Brand New-The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot is pretty fun and easy to play plus the chords are quite complex so that's good

I'm confused by this. How can you find your sound by doing covers? 1. Just jam together.. until you all agree on what you're playing together. 2. Structure it into parts and write transitions. 3. Write lyrics and melodies for it. 4. Name it. 5. Rewrite it until everyone is pleased and it represents your band.
Song 1 complete.
(repeat steps 1-5 as necessary, and not necessarily in that order)
