Stand Your Ground - Open Eyes And Beating Hearts
Release Date: May 20, 2008
Record Label: Harvest Earth Records
As the days go by, it seems as if it's becoming harder and harder to find something I like listening too without quickly tiring of it. But have no fear, Stand Your Ground doesn't fall into that category. This Christian post-hardcore/metalcore band gave off a different vibe. At least it did to me
Stand Your Ground begins Open Eyes And Beating Hearts with a nice guitar riff before exploding into a brilliant guitar/drum combination, gang vocals and demanding growls on "Coup De Main". Then things change suddenly and it almost sounds like a different band. "Our Time" is a Christian anthem that continues the heavier sound. "Having Done All, To Stand" touches on Stand Your Ground's more melodic side. "A False Sense Of Self-Reliance" follows this same pattern until Stand Your Ground throws in a big breakdown at the end. After a long interlude, "The Prodigal Cycle" is an outstanding track due to the guitarists.
Everyone in this band has great talent and it shows on every song. Stand Your Ground's vocalist does an outstanding job. His growls are deep, his clean vocals are above average, and the lyrics are great. Everyone does their part, and does it right. Open Eyes and Beating Hearts is a great start for Stand Your Ground.
The heavier side of Write This Down; Metalcore; Post Hardcore
