I just found out Against Me! is playing at the Syracuse student center on the 14th, as in.. next week. a) My school is bad at promoting things b) there better be tickets available for me to buy

i like the spell out, and there will definitely be tickets. you forget how many college students don't read flyers or bulletin boards, or listen to the college radio station. also, most college kids are broke as shit. so, you should be fine.

Or at least you need an ID to buy a ticket.

I didn't either.
At some point I'll wander over there and inquire about the show to see whats up and I'll post back in here if there's anything important/useful.

UB is killer about getting Speakers.. Sometimes I'd rather have that than concerts. You guys got Bill Clinton, for God's sake! Syracuse gets former football players that have nothing better to do than come back and give a speech.
My brothers' a senior at UB. I live about 6 blocks from the city campus.

We had Something Corporate do a 8 dollar show or something, and then we had the Sleeping play real cheap. But we only get one or two shows a semster. Clearly I need to transfer to a larger and more expensive college.

Tickets go on sale Monday. $5 if you have an SUID, or someone who can buy you some that has an SUID. Otherwise you're out of luck.

Update:
They haven't started selling the tickets yet because Against Me! hasn't finished the paperwork yet
BUT
The fliers now say "$5 with an SUID, $10 for everybody else"
So if you're free Wednesday night, come down and maybe I'll see you there, as long as they get the paperwork in..

i don't go there, but i live in syracuse. if you don't like city campuses, don't go to SU. it's in the middle of the city just a few minutes from downtown. it is, however, surrounded by a not-so-nice part of town, but don't let that deter you, cause it's a pretty sweet campus.

Word. You don't need concerts when you have Dolphy Day.
Syracuse is very nice if you stay on campus. It's the ideal campus. I perfect, huge quad with all the academic buildings on or near the quad, and the dorms around that. You can get along just fine without leaving the campus and its nice. There's frat parties just about every weekend, especially at the beg. of the semesters because they want to attract new pledges. Just either string them along or make friends with someone who will pledge/is in the frat and you can go just about any day you want, even if there's no parties.
If you want to venture off campus, make sure you get through the ring of ghetto, then you'll be fine. Downtown is kinda nice, and there's one of the bigger malls in the US here, which they plan on making THE biggest (Destiny, USA). The carasal mall is already enormous, so I don't know what all they're gonna put in there.
Classes aren't bad. I chose a lot of lecture hall classes because I like those better, but you'll often be in classes like 25 people large. Most of the programs are really good, especially graduate Economics, the Business school, and more than anything, Communications. There's a decent medical program as there's like 20 hospitals on the one side of campus.
It's fun if you like a bigger school. There's 11000ish undergraduates. Food's not awful, but its not really ... good. Some dorms are good, others aren't bad. If you're relaly considering it, don't come blind. I know a few people who are very unhappy wiht their decision to come here, but others who love it. Just make sure you visit so its right for you. My last gf was going to come because she got into the communications school, but hated the fact that it was in the city, and I think she made a better choice not coming here. It's all a matter of preference.

destiny is never going to happen. according to the original plans, i'm pretty sure they were supposed to be almost done with it by now, and they haven't even started yet. carousel is just fine for me. it was built by the same company that built the galleria here, and some of the similarities are eerie.

There was some issue about money that stopped all the construction, which WAS supposed to be done in like 6 months from now or so. But I think they got the go ahead again, or are almost there, so it should start going agian someday soon. I'm not expecting it to be even remotely close to being done by the time I graduate, tho. They're being almost as indecisive as the fucking Peace Bridge decision in Buffalo/Canada. Those fuckers were supposed to build a bridge 8 years ago.
