View Full Version : 2009 is gonna be big...
We have a Blink 182 reunion.
We have a new Green Day record coming.
Of course there are Midtown rumors (it wouldn't be a good year without Midtown rumors).
There are so many big records dropping this year, it'd take forever to list everything I'm excited for.
What else is everyone looking foward to?
I apologize if there's already a thread for this, my bad...

I think it was origanlly February, but it's obviously not. I'd think by May at the latest. Their myspace still says spring of '09. I'd like another demo up there or something.
Their AP profile says this:
"fun is Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff. Formed during the winter of 2008, the band will begin recording their debut album this September with producer Steven McDonald, arranger Roger Joseph Manning Jr and a cast of characters. They will release a single in November and their debut album will be available in February, 2009. "

There's definately a lot I'm looking foward to, I plan on spending a LOT of money on albums this year.
Now, if only The Early November would follow this recent trend and reunite! I'm fine with Ace's solo stuff, it's amazing, but TEN would make my year..
..I'll gladly substitute Something Corporate instead though.

I'm consistently amazed at how he maintains such a high quality-to-content ratio, given how prolific he is. Lie Down in the Light was wonderful but I'm surprised he'd say that Beware! is his most ambitious effort, given it's on the heels of a recent release. I curiously await its release.

You know, I don't like this band, but I'd never had a reason to want them to disband until recently. I'm an avid comic buff, and Way's Umbrella Academy series is fantastic, and writing scripts and drawing panel breakdowns (for the fantastic Gabriel Ba to pencil) is quite time consuming and I'd rather him focus his energies on his auspicious comic career.

Don't give up Vinh. Look at the AP hierarchy:
You'll convince Ryan that Oldham is good.
Ryan will, in turn, become obsessed with Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. He'll sing their praises.
Ryan is the liaison between the "bastard elitists" and the "ap-ers who just want civil, unpretentious discussion...unless you claim FUTCT is better than TTTYG, then it's on." It will trickle down. The kids who've listened to Brand New for years and are starting to get restless will see Ryan talking about Oldham and it's "by bye Conor Oberst, hello Bonnie 'Prince' Billy."
Give it time.

The kids who've listened to Brand New for years and are starting to get restless will see Ryan talking about Oldham and it's "by bye Conor Oberst, hello Bonnie 'Prince' Billy."
Give it time.
Brand New will release a quasi-instrumental album eventually, so it'll be Mogwai before Oldham.

Last I knew, they were aiming for a mid-'09 release date. That's probably hopeful thinking, but I'd say it'll be out by the end of the year. I hope so, since they usually wait WAY too long.

Still need my BIG '09 album, either from a regular or someone new. Some good albums, some disappointments to varying degrees. Want my definitive AOTY to get here though.

DEFINTELY excited over the new Blink 182, and very curious to how it measures up against Brand New for me personally, since I regard both bands having a huge impact on me at different times in my life - they never cease to amaze me. Eminem too, for sure. I do wonder if Fenix*TX ever releases that new album after their own "reunion" though.

Finally, good to see someone else who is bothered. I know I started a thread for the free download/general about The Maccabees in Music Forum, I think it's gonna be a great album, I hope so anyways after their debut was worn out by me.

I really liked Colour It In but I much prefer his new vocal delivery and the darker side to the lyrics.
Nice avatar, haha.

Haha, thanks.
Yeah I don't imagine the whole album is gonna be like that, in fact Felix said it's the darker sounding song on the album. I love his vocals on both so I'd be happy either way really, but I know what you mean, it's nice to hear a style that's quite detatched from the last album.

I don't imagine they will have completely detached from the cutesy Toothpaste Kisses style just yet but they've changed their look too so maybe!
Have you heard Young Lions? It's brilliant, I'm sure the studio version will be just as good if not better than No Kind Words.

That's incredible news, here's hoping.
New Coheed album's not due out until 2010, unfortunately.

I'm excited about 2 things this year:
The new Green Day album and the new blink album. And of course the blink world tour. But not sure if they will come to Europe this year or early next year.

Yeah, I saw the news thread. It's unfortunate that we have to wait longer, but at least they're making another one.

Good point. They said the album is described as "very melodic" could be a really good thing or a really unneeded change.

I wouldn't say that. I think it's great when parents and their children can actually agree on music.
I'm looking forward to all the new stuff I'll hear in 2009. :) Blink182 though...SO EXCITED
