View Full Version : what happens to AVA / +44?

not that I expect many people to care, nor do I, but it's an interesting substory that I haven't seen discussed anywhere following tonight's reformation. AVA had supposedly begun recording a new album... +44 might have been killed off last month with Hoppus' solo plans, but either way, we lack a definitive answer.

+44 is done
AVA unfortunately is not.

The Blink182 thing was actually a perfectly executed April Fools joke, you'll see come April 1st.
That would be the most cruel joke ever.
I'd cry.

they have a few decent songs, although everything kinda sounds the same with them with the weird guitar and all. my issue is that it might cause internal blink strife if Tom continues on with AVA, a la Box Car Racer...

AVA is meh at best
+44 was just to hold you over while you wished for a Bilink return. They are no longer needed.

of course that's a consideration, but if it were the *only* consideration this would have happened sooner / they never would have broken up in the first place

I think AvA has one or two mediocre albums left, at best. Tom has run out of material.

it's interesting that the three albums Tom has done outside of blink are all concept albums.

I think a lot of the new blink stuff is driven by Tom. Read the announcement on the official site. I reeks of the AvA announcement. Just slightly toned down.

It was inspired by "War" and shit. Not concept.

I'll take your word for it. I only got into blink in 2007 so I don't have much to compare it to.

Of all the times I have seen him live and of various videos I have watched. He does fine when it is an interview to an camera. When it is infront of a crowd, he seems to get awkward. At least from the TOYPAJ era on. People might argue this, but from what I have seen, that is pretty normal for him.

it is listed as a concept album in many independent places, which is where I may have picked up the misconception. then again this could be more of an opinion thing than something with an actual correct answer.
I-Empire was also war-like, though you may be referring to something else with "War" that I'm not picking up. the only think I can think of is the U2 album but that doesn't make much sense.

haha uhh that would make it a concept actually, but it wasn't, some of the songs were war related, but not a majority of them.

BCR and AvA were both inspired by war according to Tom. It could be concept, but I think that is giving Tom a bit too much credit.

remember, he thought AVA would be the biggest development in the history of rock music back in 2005/2006. and that's hardly an exaggerated paraphrase.

AvA was like u2 if bono had lost all of his talent, and the edge had exclusivly used effects pedals instead of actually playing his guitar
