Anybody think this would be a good idea to coincide with the Academy Awards? Not that we'll choose every single category that the Oscars does, but I think it would be a good idea to nominate on ones, such as:
Best Picture
Best Actor/Actress
Supporting Actor/Actress
Animated Film
Cinematography
Director
Score
Original Song
Adapted Screenplay
Original Screenplay
Special Effects
If you all think we should add more, go ahead and nominate some categories. After a couple days, I'll set up the nomination thread so we can get started on that before the actual voting.

I think TJ will probably have polls to coincide with the categories and in the end, we can put it all together, if need be to see what the AP favorites are.

I think he means your own choices in general, not just out of the Oscar nominations. Damn good idea.

Yeah, that's what I meant.
If you all agree on the categories, I can go ahead and set up the nominations thread sometime tonight, so we can get that rolling.

Can't everyone just list their choices in this thread, rather than have a bunch more oscar polls?

Sounds good.

This sounds awesome. Were you thinking of tallying with each vote earning a different point value, sort of like Movie MVP awards, except none of our nominees will have taken steroids recently?

Actually, I was thinking about creating a Nominations thread for people to throw out their nominations. Then I was planning on people PM'ing me their votes, so we can actually get some intrigue with not knowing until a certain date (maybe the night before the Oscars or something?). That way there wouldn't be a ton of polls, I could create the final nominations in one thread, and it would be sort of exciting to release the winners as a surprise, instead of seeing it build up in a poll.

Good question. I'm planning on creating a system that goes like this in a 5 option poll: 1st place (5 points), 2nd place (4 points), 3rd place (3 points), etc. unless somebody has a better idea.

Maybe have people pick their top 2 or 3 in each category. Start the thread ASAP though, 'cause i'm jonesing to throw my choices out there.
