its alright i guess. and not really creative with the name. its like a knock off of a family guy but instead of talking dog its an alien and fish

i never watch it really, but i do enjoy that its more plot-driven, as opposed to Family Guy's ridiculous formmula.

Awesome show that doesn't get as much credit as it should. It's just as good as FG IMO.

Yeah this show doesn't light my fire either... (I apologise to Jim Morrison for using his lyric in the context of American Dad)

Family Guy rules though :D

This show is good but not even in the same ball park as Family Guy as far as I'm concerned.

As much as I prefer Family Guy to this show, I have to admit that American Dad is superior in certain areas.

i've probably watched 30 episodes of this show so far this summer. I don't like Family Guy very much, but I can't stop laughing at AD. ROger needs his own show.

American Dad>Family Guy
When Family Guy can make an episode about something about eating disorders, make it funny without relying on random cut away gags and still make it have a good point, I'll think otherwise.

Where Family Guy fails, American Dad prevails. :-d

This is basically what I've said since American Dad premiered.

I enjoy both American Dad and Family Guy, FG is a lot more extreme so depending what mood I'm in I'll watch one or the other.

i used to like both a lot, now they're kind of not as interesting. i don't watch them in order so it's not like the seasons are getting worse (they might be, but i don't know), but watching either show for an extended period of time can actually be mentally excruciating.

Hahahaha, I agree with this.

It seems to be compared to Family Guy a lot. I think they're both good shows.
American Dad seems to be more plot driven and lot less random though, which I appreciate.

Not very funny, or witty, or charming. This is why it will never be like Family Guy.

This. American Dad is so much better.

Plus, the Stan character is far funnier than Peter. Republican CIA douchebag > fat moron.

It's an alright show. It's something I watch religiously, but whenever I catch it I always get a few good laughs. There's one really funny where the son starts dating a fat chick, hilarious episode.

Beats the Cleveland Show by a mile that's for sure.

Lately a few of the newest family guys have been sucking. Am I alone on this one? American Dad is actually turning out to be more enjoyable as of late.

my 2 year olds favorite non-Nick cartoon. I've got the theme song as my ring tone, cause she likes to hear it so much.

The only thing I can figure is Seth doesn't have much involvement in the writting of this show, otherwise I can't explain why its so much better than the other two. FG and Cleveland are basically unwatchable, but American Dad has stayed rather strong season after season.

haven't watched it recently, but I've always felt that, much like newer FG, it tries way too hard to be funny/controversial, and just comes off as forced

No you're not. A lot of people I know who were big Family Guy fans at one time have commented on how bad the show has gotten over the years and have since moved on to American Dad. There's only so many random gags one can take before that person says enough.

yea pretty much. I wouldn't even mind it that much though if the random gags were up to par, but it seems like they are becoming less and less creative, and less and less funny. Same with the actual "plot" of each episode.

Yeah the last few plots on Family Guy were pretty crummy. Parts of the plots had promise but they just weren't up to their potential.

American dad has definitely surpassed Family Guy. At first american dad was alright, but once seth got out of it it really started to shine.
