Relient K (www.relientk.com) Earns RIAA Gold With Mmhmm; Co-Headlining Tour WIth MxPx (www.mxpx.com) Set For Fall

(HOLLYWOOD, CA) -- "Mmhmm," the current hit album from Gotee/Capitol recording artists Relient K, has been certified gold by the RIAA for U.S. sales in excess of 500,000 units. The certification marks the band's second gold album, following this spring's RIAA sales award presentation for 2003's "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right...But Three Do." The announcement coincides with news that the Canton, Ohio-based band will embark on a Fall American tour with co-headliners MXPX beginning in early October. The tour follows the band's appearance as a main stage act on this year's just completed installment of the celebrated Vans Warped Tour. Released last November, the Top 15 "Mmhmm" has proven to be Relient K's most successful outing to date, reaping unanimous critical commendations and the fastest sales of the band's career. Fueled by non-stop road work - including last spring's arena/amphitheater tour alongside Good Charlotte and Simple Plan - the band's fourth album recently made a return to the top half of the Billboard 200. In other news, the band performed in late August on Jimmy Kimmel Live -- the outside stage. This performance came on the heels of a recent appearance on NBC-TV's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Additionally, Relient K appeared July 22nd on the MTV Hits program Summer on the Strip from Las Vegas and also did an acoustic performance on MTV's TRL. Late fall, Relient K will be included in MTV's Hard Rock Live series. While, the video for "Be My Escape," remains in rotation on MTV this week.
Relient K - Matthew Thiessen: vocals; Matthew Hoopes: guitar; Dave Douglas; drums; John Schnek; bass; John Warne;guitar - jumped onto the scene in 1998, quickly drawing praise for their idiosyncratic brand of melodic, optimistic, pop-injected punk. The quartet developed a reputation as one of the hardest working bands on the circuit, playing an average of 200 gigs a year. The constant touring paid off: Relient K's three Gotee-released albums - including 2001's "The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek" - each achieved stand out sales figures while expanding the band's loyal fanbase across the country. By 2003, Relient K had become one of modern punk's biggest underground acts. Their third album, the gold-certified "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right...But Three Do" was a Top 40 smash on the Billboard 200. The album garnered Relient K their first Grammy Award nomination.

I hope MxPx is the closer on this tour. Relient K was hitting puberty when MxPx were just beginning to make a name for themselves. Not to mention RK has always mentioned MxPx as one of their of first influences..

Congrats to Relient K though, they definitely deserve it. Mmhmm is a great album.

Co-headlining tour with Mxpx. WOW. 12 years of Mxpx is a long time for any band to stick together. They deserve to be the headliner but oh well.

Oh, maybe I am wrong then. I just said that because I asked Yuri at The Warped tour and he said it was not co headlining. Either way I get to see them!

No they were never on Tooth & Nail. They were/are on Gotee (a Christian based label).

The tour is considered a co headline, although MxPx will be closing majority of the dates, last I heard MxPx will be closing about 2/3 of the tour. As far as support goes, Rufio is on all of the dates. Cartel is not on any of the tour at all. Go Betty Go is supposedly on alot of west coast dates, there was a rumor about Over It being on some of it, but that was never confirmed. Also House of Heroes (www.myspace.com/houseofheroes (http://www.myspace.com/houseofheroes)) is on the tour from October 14th-26th. If you have not heard House of Heroes then you need too...an amazing band in my humble opinion.

Also just want to say congrats to Relient K, they are definitely hard-working and have a great management team.
