also, we got an entire room to record in. we got this room and it was empty which made it very echo-y. and we hav a drumset in it. and it echos like a bitch and so do vocals. so we startd putting comforters on the wall and we arent close 2 covering it all up but anyways the echo is still strong.

any ideas or suggestions on how 2 eliminate echo? and how to get an overall better sound?

thanks

Try putting a sock or two over the microphone for the vocals.

As for the drums...not much you can do but relocate, man.

get bass traps in the 4 corners, 2 on ceiling, and on the reflection points of the monitors.

get room package 1, or if you wanna DIY it, get some Owens Corning 703 (Acoustic Fiberglass) and make your own bass traps. bass traps will take care of much of the flutter at the same time.

kind of expensive, but the best investment you can give your recordings is a well-treated room. trust me, it was worth every penny for me.

comforters won't work, as they'll only dampen the high and mid range frequencies, not the low end. that is where the real problem it. once you get the room properly treated (not foam shit, actual bass traps!!!!) then you'll be able to experiment with things like mic placement, gates, eq, etc to get the best sounds from your tracks.
