No reason to fret fellow Batman fans, he did The Prestige between Begins and The Dark Knight, so I would still expect the next installment in 2011.

Nolan doesn't just do movie after movie. I bet a new Batman wouldn't be out until 2012 at the earliest.

Either way, I'm interested. First original material from him since Following.

Hope not to be honest. Don't want Nolan to become another director who becomes attached to the stigma of only directing certain actors.

Eh. I don't agree with that. Just look at Scorsese and DiCaprio. I hope that he never does a film without him again.

I know nothing about the story obviously, but I'd also like to see Nolan work with Guy Pierce again.

I think that's just a typo, Dicaprio's upcoming Ashecliffe was called Shutter Island at one point. Then again, that is a pretty big typo, so who knows

New trailer description;

----------------------------------

Overall, I have to confess: This trailer was almost completely incomprehensible, a series of images and words that left me in kind of a daze, albeit excited as well. The trailer begins quietly and we get a voiceover by Leonardo DiCaprio. According to one IMDB poster, the voiceover dialogue was as follows:

What’s the most resilient form of parasite? An idea. An idea has the power to build a city… to change the world, and re-write all the rules.

In perhaps one of the most spectacular visuals from any trailer I’ve seen in recent memory, we see a city block folding upwards at a right angle into an L shape, while citizens in the foreground look on (a glimpse of Ellen Page is seen at around this time). The trailer continues to throw random images at you without any context or explanation. Leo is at a cafe when there appears to be an explosion in the background that freezes all of a sudden, Matrix-style. According to the same IMDB poster, “At one point a train is driving down a street, plowing through cars. People are fighting mid-air, someone on a motorcycle drives beside a car holding a huge gun. Ken Watanabe looks like a really scary villain from the one smile he gives.” Here’s how random and jam-packed this trailer was: I don’t actually remember any of that stuff happening!

All this stuff is followed by Leo delivering the capper line, referring to the “idea” from earlier:

…and that’s why I need to steal it.

We see Leo in a kitchen holding a gun. Lots of people are apparently in distress, perhaps fighting one another. Lots of extremely slow-motion imagery of water, and water colliding with people.

Overall, it was dizzying and random and kind of amazing. I bought into the whole thing the second I saw “From the director of The Dark Knight” flash onto the screen at the beginning. Others around me were not as convinced. “That looks boring!” I audibly heard people exclaim. “HE looks good in it, though,” another one rejoined, referring to DiCaprio. “Ellen Page is in it!” another chimed in. Not a trailer that went over well with the general public, unfortunately.

The trailer was....cool. Said enough to pique curiosity from viewers, but I don't think it did enough to look "shit your pants awesome." Plenty of time for that, though, as he/WB still obviously don't wanna give too much away.

On a side note, this will be the definitive film for Ellen Page: she's either gonna win me over, or I'm gonna become absolutely indifferent towards whatever she does in her career.

I got to see it before Sherlock Holmes yesterday. It was incredible. I still have absolutely no clue as to what this may be about but all I know is I need to see it. There was a similar reaction from the people in my theater though, I overheard a lot of people saying it made them sick.

Very cool trailer to see in theaters. I don't understand why people are complaining about its elusiveness. Don't you remember the first time you saw Memento and didn't realize what the hell was going on until the last 5 minutes? Don't be surprised if he tries to do the same with this film.

i had a dream the other night that i think was mildly inspired by this trailer:

i was at work at the RadioShack Corporate building, i used to work there, and my floor had a pretty good view of the Trinity River. i was in a meeting and i started noticing the sky getting cloudly quickly, and i went to the window and out of the river was a HUGE tidal wave that came out of nowhere.

it was a vivid dream, so it shook me up pretty bad until i realized i was dreaming.

A key part of the premise is corporate espionage by way of dream invasion, but motives and even reality are slippery in a film that toys with perception as its travels through time and space.
I'm ready to have my mind blown.

Edit with something to actually add to discussion: Finished reading and watching the reordered trailer from the previous page. Brings up so interesting points, although I'm not sure I would agree that "the Idea" will manifest in a human form.

Something else, my brother told me that the trailer reminded him of something similar to the plot of the anime Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The plot in a nutshell is that one girl has the ability to manipulate the universe with her emotions, although she doesn't quite know it. In the trailers, Ellen Page seems to take a similar role because she seems completely apathetic to the unearthly events happening around her while Leonard DiCaprio appears to be having an intense conversation with her.

"The material and its complexity are what I’m attracted to… I’ve been lucky to work with people who want to tell stories that hit on different cylinders simultaneously. ‘Shutter Island’ is definitely that. ‘Inception’ is the same. It is Chris delving into dream psychoanalysis and, at the same time, making a high-octane, surreal film that came from his mind. He wrote the entire thing, and it all made sense to him. It didn’t make sense to many of us when we were doing it. We had to do a lot of detective work (laughing) to figure out what the movie was about."- Leonardo DiCaprio

Loved the first half, didn't like the second half. There are a lot of screenplay issues and things I thought could have been done better, and ultimately they were just trying to fit too many things in. The Two-Face storyline was way underdeveloped and the Joker became less effective. Still a good film, but I actually enjoy Begins more, and think The Prestige and Memento are both better films on the whole.

Hopefully this movie proves to be good for her. It's a huge step up in her career and I'm hoping for the best.

I found Juno ridiculously pretentious and unrealistic, almost bordering on unwatchable at points, and her performance pretty much embodied everything I hated about the film. Hard Candy had a fundamentally flawed screenplay that was so unforgiving and over the top that it actually WAS unwatchable. I'm not one to stop watching a film halfway through, but Hard Candy was quite literally the most painful experience I have ever had watching a movie, and there is not a movie on the planet that I wouldn't rather watch again. The third film I saw her in, Smart People, was an unbelievably bland "indie comedy", so ridiculously forgettable that I don't even remember what happened in it.

I also hope this movie proves me at least somewhat wrong. I think, more than anything, those movies sucked because she was cast as ridiculously over the top characters in horrific screenplays, and I hope this film puts an end to the streak. I doubt I'll be disappointed, as I've at least enjoyed everything I've seen of Nolan's, even if I think most of it is a bit overrated (with the exception of The Prestige, which might actually be underrated). And with Leo in the lead role, it seems like a safe bet.

This is about one of the only movies I'm looking forward to. New trailer looks great. And I keep forgetting how awesome the cast is. (Although I agree; I'd rather have someone other than Ellen Page. But I'm not worried)

The third and final theatrical trailer to Christopher Nolan's "Inception". The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cillian Murphy.

You know you're excited for a movie when you can watch the trailer over and over again and still feel pumped.

This will, without a doubt, be the best movie of this summer.

Same here. Zimmer's score works so well with it too. Zimmer and Nolan should ALWAYS work together.
