the thing about this band that i hate is that they were never even remotely good. i hate people saying "you only hate mcr cause they're on mtv." not true. they sucked all kinds of ass before they became mainstream. they havent grown, they've probably even taken a few steps backward since their last album. and why the hell do they wear bulletproof vests? who's gonna waste bullets on some goth/emo band with an identity crisis? this band sucks.

Yep MCR = Lame.

Generic, samey song structures. Boring lyrics and bland delevery. Helena for instance, the song hardly varies at all.

Hundreds of other bands do this thing and they do it better.

Saosin = Musicial arangement, lush melodies, better screams and prettier melodies.
Underoath = Generic, but done so damn well.

MCR are starting to take over in New Zealand. Which is sad, but I guess everyone has to start badly before moving on.

I don't know Underoath have never really struck me as that much of an original band. They've always kicked ass at what they do just never really created an original sound.

Like Changing of times is a good emocore album IMO, it just sounds like a lot of other bands. Same with Safety. I've only heard three songs from the metal days though (Watch Me Die, Act Of Depression, something else) so I could be completely wrong.

I enjoyed a few songs off of 'sweet revenge'(a lot...hell, i liked the album) but what i hate about My Chemical Romance is their dissapointing, overrated, god-awful live show. but that's just me, so i'll leave your opinions to you. i was just very let down at how downright bad they sounded.

I don't like these guys, but I definitely have some respect for them for at least doing something somewhat different and original in the face of mainstream music and forcing people to listen to something out of their comfort range.

Also, I think they do a lot of really cool things with art direction and colors and other areas of that arena... I have been very impressed with their videos I've seen, despite not enjoying the songs terribly.

If they had a more powerful drummer, they'd be better. Perhaps it's just the production, but there's just no feeling behind his drumming.

yeah, you have a good point. lot's of people stop at the eyeliner and black clothes, but there really are a lot of things innovative about this band.

I watched a performance of them on Fuse. FUCKING HORRIBLE LIVE. it was unbelievable. Its like the band was playing the songs, and he wasnt even singing the words to them, just screaming slurs, and talking to the audience.
