another good live venue closes...

The Downtown located in Farmingdale, NY has closed.
They have not released a public statement but most of
the staff have moved on to other venues and jobs.
Jay Tea the dude who runs open mic nights away message reads:

"ArrogantJT: September 19th 2005. The Downtown is closed. THANK YOU everyone who has ever set foot in this building! We made music history together and it was by far the best 4 years of my life. It's been fun! GAME OVER!!!"

Its a sad day for long island.

The downtown housed such bands as

Glassjaw
Brand New
Taking Back Sunday
Straylight Run
...and many many many more.

i wouldnt go crazy till we
get word from the owners
but it isn't looking good.

not sure...everyone on long island is asking that same question right now
i guess we will just have to wait and see
my guess is the place is being sold
so it will be closed for a few weeks
then reopen with a new owner
new format
new name
etc

I hope it reopens because I saw Straylight Run there with Northstar, and Say Anything, one of the best shows I've ever been too.

it closed because they were losing alot of money, and someone was also stealing money. losing money everyone should of known when ticket prices went from 9 to 15
