Pretty bizzare thread but ive been meaning to make it for a while.

I love when those big bass notes in songs a heard through a sub, it's like an explosion. I've been smashing homesick lately and there is a plethora of "explosions" haha.

Your thoughts?

The only sound thing I changed in my car is the head unit.

But it has an insane "system" in it (by stock standards.) Besides Hip Hop, that genre may be my favorite to listen to through it. (Especially the intro to "The Downfall of Us All.")

My favorite song to do it may be The War by AvA, just because of the kick drum.

Nice one! The first explosion in downfall of us all is insane! Yeah and double kicks are good on subs too. I was worried no one would know what i meant.

I was thinking about talking about this for a while, and I think the bass 'explosion' is getting more popular, let's hope that it doesn't get over played.

I've got my head unit changed and my rear deck speakers changed and everything sounds clearer and packs much more punch. The front speakers still freak out at songs with large amounts of bass. They'll be changed soon enough.

If I'm playing something with a lot of bass or 808 drops (the explosions you're talking about) I'll push the bass toward the back speakers. Makes me happy.

I feel like the whole double-bass sixteenth note thing thats ever-so-popular in today's metal/hardcore music just can't be good for a subwoofer. I'm probably wrong though.

Stupid amounts of bass piss me off. If the bass is more audible in your car system than it is at a bands actual concert, you're doing it wrong.

10/05/09, 06:43 PM
Ok. I feel that I should clarify, people listening to music with the amount of bass they want doesn't piss me off, my stereo pisses me off occasionally because it isn't very well balanced. It's like I have the choice between zero bass and bass that drowns out everything else.

Your thoughts?

There's a local metalcore band called Those Who Fear that released an EP last year, and the recording quality isn't great, so most of their breakdowns start with a really bad bass "explosion" that my friends and I always get a good laugh out of. This thread reminds me of that inside joke.

And how does that makes my statement irrelevant? If you'd still make such an absurd statement, then it's still applicable to you, and if not, then it serves as a general statement to anyone that needlessly condescends towards anyone for having a different musical opinion.

it's fun haha. my friends listen to some really terrible TDWP/ADTR shit that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole, but the bass drop/808 things sound pretty cool.
