The Dana Carvey Show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dana_Carvey_Show) was a very short lived sketch comedy show from the 90's, that was way ahead of its time in terms of humor and subject matter. Probably what lead to its early cancelation (7 episodes). Its being released this May on DVD by Shout!Factory (probably the best company in the TV-on-DVD market).

It stared Dana Carvey, obviously, but also Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert before they became stars. And was the starting point of The Ambiguously Gay Duo.

This is a mini episode that has clips of one of my favorite skits. Dana and Colbert doing the exact opposite of dine and ditching. All episode are free to watch at Hulu.com (http://www.hulu.com/the-dana-carvey-show).

I'm interested in this. Carvey is one of the funniest guys around and you're right, Shout Factory is amazing.

I remember watching this when it first aired. I didn't get most of the jokes, but I love the sketch he does with Steve Carell as the guys who pay for stuff and then leave, laughing hysterically the entire time.

That's pretty much all I remember about it. Going through the drive-thru, paying and then driving away before getting their food; paying for gas in advance then driving away without getting any; raking an old lady's yard and then sprinting away when she goes to get them lemonade as payment.

There's also one where they pay a prostitute and run away. So stupid, but it still makes me laugh.

the pay'n ditch skits were the best part of the show. me and my dad still talked about them years after the show was canceled.

The waiters who get queasy talking about food was pretty funny, too.

And of course, the Germans who compliment loudly.

I always love quoting the Beatles skit.

And then George is over there going "Bum ba bum bum"

Germans saying nice things had me rolling in the first episode. I'd forgotten just how great this show was.

I was showing my girlfriend Lyle, the Effeminate Heterosexual the other day because we know someone who is like that haha. The show was so edgy for it's time (and timeslot).
