Probably our staple bands are becoming Fireworks and The Swellers but bands like Take Notice, The Injured List, and Your Best Friend are really starting to get some love.

In Madison, WI ...a lot of people listen to Death Cab and Jack Johnson. Probably Dave Mathews too. Unfortunately we don't have a really great music scene around here (which is why I'd like to end up in Chicago). I have gathered a successful following for Chicago bands such as The Felix Culpa (take notice, whether through myspace or purevolume...they are so ridiculously good. Also decent friends and awesome guys), Dr. Manhattan, and Empires though. There's really not a huge hip hop seen here. The only noteworthy artist coming around is Del the Funky Homosapien (this summer), which I'm absolutely stoked for and I have no fucking clue why he'd come to Madison, WI. Either way, I'm satisfied.

Your Best Friend seems to be blowin' up. I like their stuff, from what I've heard.

bunch of my friends from high school are also in the band Waking Misery (http://www.myspace.com/wakingruins). Harder shit than what I usually listen to, but they're decent at what they do.

-Minneapolis area has Motion City Soundtrack and a healthy indie/pop scene
-The Get Up Kids
-We Are the Union and La Dispute are from MI
-every Chicago punk band like The Lawrence Arms
-The Graduate is from Illinois
-and then I can tell you whatever you want to know about the Iowa scene

For a while in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, electronic music started becoming really popular. To name a few bands that have come out the scene: PlayRadioPlay!, The Secret Handshake, Forever The Sickest Kids, Sky Eats Airplane, Scenes and Sirens, Artist vs. Poet. It was just got really huge for reasons unknown. It's died down significantly the last couple of months, thankfully.

Story of the Year and The Offspring seem to be some big things around here, but nobody can agree mostly.
