Here's a list I came across which was compiled online, your thoughts?
http://top40.about.com/od/top10lists/tp/punkpop.htm
hmm I'm not too sure, I mean Good Charlotte... seriously?!
I think there are some classics on there but even though I'm a huge fan of New Found Glory and am probably being slightly biased, I think they deserve to have a mention on the list.
Not ten, and in no particular order, but these should be on the list:
New Found Glory- S/T
Something Corporate- Leaving Through the Window
Mayday Parade- A Lesson In Romantics
Valencia- We All Need a Reason to Believe
Third Eye Blind- S/T
Fall Out Boy- Take This To Your Grave
Velvetground

Any top pop punk list without Screeching Weasels is wrong.

Any best of list that involves green day but doesn't have Dookie or Insomniac is already bound for failure. The fact that the Descendents aren't numbers one through four is another sign.

Blink 182 - Enema Of The State
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Something Corporate - Leaving Through The Window
Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit

Jack's Mannequin - Everything In Transit
Blink 182 - Take Off Your Pants And Jacket
Fall Out Boy - Take This To Your Grave
I agree with all but that one. I just don't feel like it's strong as a whole album. Definately some of the best songs they've written, but also some filler. That's just my opinion though.

Descendants - Milo Goes To College
NOFX - Punk In Drublic
Green Day - Dookie
Blink-182 - Enema of the State
Screeching Weasel - My Brain Hurts
Jimmy Eat World - Clarity
Saves The Day - Through Being Cool
Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit
Rancid - Let's Go
New Found Glory - S/T
Those are just a couple that come to mind. Could through in some of The Queers as well
everyone's opinion is invalid here
The Descendants - Milo Goes to College is the #1 Pop-punk album. None of these albums everyone is saying wouldn't exist if it wasn't for this band/album. And I don't even like the Descendants and I know/accept this and what they have done for this genre. I don't even like this genre. I think this is by far the weakest genre and the most untalented when it comes to music composition, everything is too simple. I am not a fan of theory technical = good either, I am just a fan of bands that you can clearly tell push the musical boundaries, no band is this style really does that. They are just playing/singing about the same things.

10. Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)
Although they are revered as founders of the "emo" genre, Weezer's music is also pure punk pop in style.

i agree with just about everything here, especially since this is a "top" pop-punk albums, not a "favorite" pop-punk albums. although there are some mild exceptions to the "everything is too simple" statement, but no one's writing anything challenging or pushing the boundaries, thats for sure.

Yeah. I made my list of my favorites that came to mind first that I like. I didn't make it for most influential pop punk albums. In that case it would be a completely different ballgame. Dookie would definitely be on it.

But, if you are going to make a professional list, you should at least know something about the genre, which that guy obviously doesn't. Mine wasn't professional, so again, it doesn't really matter.

you can look at pop-punk two ways. theres the widely misconstrued way that the mainstream uses which includes all of your list and all of his list, and then there's the correct way which includes neither.

OH MY GOD I JUST HAD A HUGE EPIPHANY.
so like, all the shitty scene music that publications are calling "pop-punk", im now going to call "poop-punk". so delightfully immature, it started as a typo and then i was like WAIT THATS BRILLIANT WHY HAS NO ONE EVER USED THAT PUN?
but listen to this, i elaborated on the significance of that term, it is deeper than you think:
RailroadEarth77 (3:31:58 AM): pop-punk is a food
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:05 AM): that like
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:07 AM): a decade ago
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:13 AM): it got gobbled up by the mainstream
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:13 AM): hahaha
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:24 AM): and people have been digesting it
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:27 AM): for years and years
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:30 AM): and as you digest it
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:33 AM): it gets borken down more and more
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:42 AM): and you take all the nutrients and redeeming value out of it
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:48 AM): and its been fully digested for awhile now
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:51 AM): and now all thats coming out is shit
RailroadEarth77 (3:32:52 AM): hahahaha
so from now on if you hear about a shitty new "pop-punk" band that isnt really "pop-punk", call it "poop-punk" instead.

I thought it would be fun to make my own list. I'm pretty bias to the mid 90's though, and not a huge fan of the genre.
no real order (no bands twice).
1. Green Day - Kerplunk
2. The Offspring - Ixny on the Hombre
3. Lagwagon - Double Pladnum
4. Ataris - End Is Forever/So Long, Astoria (toss up)
5. Rancid - ....and out come the wolves
6. MXPX - Life in General
7. No Use For A Name - Making Friends/Hard Rock Bottom (toss up)
8. Get Up Kids - 4 minute mile
9. Inspection 12 - No Recovery
10. 4 Ft. Finger - New Beginings of Old Stories (had to put one recent release)

I never related Leatherface to Pop punk really. Though I think they're a great band.

I thought it would be fun to make my own list. I'm pretty bias to the mid 90's though, and not a huge fan of the genre.
no real order (no bands twice).
1. Green Day - Kerplunk
2. The Offspring - Ixny on the Hombre
3. Lagwagon - Double Pladnum
4. Ataris - End Is Forever/So Long, Astoria (toss up)
5. Rancid - ....and out come the wolves
6. MXPX - Life in General
7. No Use For A Name - Making Friends/Hard Rock Bottom (toss up)
8. Get Up Kids - 4 minute mile
9. Inspection 12 - No Recovery
10. 4 Ft. Finger - New Beginings of Old Stories (had to put one recent release)
Something like that....
That album is quality although I prefer At Your Convenience... & From Hero to Zero over it - saw them last year at a show in Portsmouth in a small bar bloody awesome

Can't find My Brain Hurts anywhere... I love Teenage Freakshow and Cindys on Methadone though.
I cannot stand Simple Plan for some reason.
Because they are one of the worst things to be considered music ever?

I really liked that album, made my top ten list last year, although for the life of me I can't remember how I stumbled upon them (not exactly a popular band here). There's nothing wrong with their other albums, but none of them have stuck with me like Stories has.

Yeah I was wondering how you heard of them , They ain't exactly massive over here(they were pretty big in the punk scene over here circa:2002)
I dug out my CD of Stories and gave it another listen last night it's still catchy as hell

Any "best of" list that includes that trainwreck of an album called American Idiot has zero credibility.

yeah i just don't see Jimmy Eat World being very pop-punk. I mean i guess to a certain extent they are, but i've always seen them more of an emo/post-emo/rock band (whatever that means haha). It would be much easier to lump them in with Christie Front Drive and Death Cab than Blink 182 and Descendants if that's what you're going for. idk.
