View Full Version : M.I.A. appreciation thread
"Arular" is one of this years best albums, by far.
More people should listen to her.

She's going on tour with Gwen Stefani later this fall. Her beats are so sick, they put me in a coma. She played @ the 40 Watt a few days ago, but I had way too much homework to be there. Apparently though her live show is insane, and she had the crowd working it like they forgot Krush Girls came last Friday. If people give her the slightest attention during Gwen's tour, I can see her maybe blowing up. Maybe. Part of her appeal is the underground crowd (and that wicked British accent that makes me think she's saying other words), so who knows.
Hot damn, people should check M.I.A. out, since the history behind her start (the mixtape) is pretty cool too.
"Bucky Done Gun" & "Sunshowers" are my hits of the summer. I missed her with LCD Soundsystem, but I heard it was great. Next time....
If you like M.I.A, check out these two:
Peaches (http://www.peachesrocks.com/)
and
Ari Up (http://www.ari-up.com/)
Both are fuckin' awesome....
I saw Peaches a few years ago, worst show Ive ever been to. The guy next to me took off his shoe and threw it at her. True story.

Its pretty good yes.
Love the first Peaches record though I can imagine it could be a liitle shabby live. At least, she provoked a reaction....
That Ari Up is too good to let pass you by....
