View Full Version : Upcoming Tours: Which would you choose?

So I've been looking at the tsunami wave of great upcoming spring/early summer tours that are rolling through all sorts of parts of our fair country. Including, but not limited to, Fall Out Boy, 311, NFG/Bayside,Jimmy Eat World (although that tour's going to start wrapping up soon), etc etc (and I'm excpecting a lot of hate for leaving out some great bands and tours out of wanting to only list what's off the top of my head).
With all of these shows coming around, how does that affect us, the concert-goers? Do we need to choose between one show or another, or can we afford to attend all of them? So my question is: If you had to drop off any of the spring/summer tours due to high ticket prices/traveling costs/etc...which would it be?
Also, would you rather travel 3-4 hours to see a favorite band than stay local and see a show that you think is mediocre?
Just something to think about, I suppose.

I wish i could afford all the shows i go to and want to go to. Concerts are my biggest hobby. I LOVE live music and there are so many coming near me that i wish to attend but i just cant afford em all!
:S
and i would definetly love to travel 3-4 hours for a great show rather than see a mediocre show. Alot of tours skip out on montreal, so driving to toronto were they usually dont skip isnt really out of the question.

Im going to 6 different shows in March- April; It's alot of money, but it really helps being on a few guestlists. But, if I wasnt on the guestlist for it already, i'd say i'd drop Taste of Chaos since its $28.50 after fees.

I have tickets to the Fall Out Boy tour and the Jack's Mannequin tour (even though my date is being rescheduled)
I also plan to buy tickets to the Bamboozle Roadshow and the Secondhand Serenade/RJA tour, aswell as the Fray/JM tour
I can't go to all the ones I want to go not only because it gets expensive, but also because of school and not being able to find people to go with me, so I mostly go to the ones with my friends, which tend to be smaller local shows between $5-$15. So my four shows this month are the same price as if I'd bought tickets to the Death Cab show for me and my mom next month. I love Death Cab, but not for $50 a ticket with stupid ticketmaster fees. If I'd never seen them, maybe I'd splurge, but that's not the case.
Like last night I only knew one of the bands we saw, and one of my friends had never heard of any of them, but it was cheaper than a movie. And more fun. I guess that could be what you'd consider a mediocre show instead of driving a few hours to see a favorite band, which is what my friends were going to do until they realized that their car insurance would be invalid on the way home because of curfew.
The most expensive one I'm going to is FOB - it's on my friend's birthday, but she paid for the tickets. Those were way too expensive. I wouldn't have gone because of the price, they aren't exactly one of my favorite bands.
I guess that didn't really answer the question. But you have me thinking now.

The only two shows I am really hoping to go to right now are Thursday and Butch Walker. Maybe Death Cab in May. Other than that, meh.

I kinda wish Thursday was getting moved to the Masquerade, even though I love the Tabernacle... I also hope all the fans of the opening (crappy) bands leave like they have been.

Last time I saw Thursday was like, 2004 at the Masq. I seriously thought the floor was going to fall through, it was insane. Tabernacle seems kinda big for them, but it is a nice venue.

Yeah, I saw Brand New/Thrice and Rise Against/Thrice at the Tabernacle and the venue was good, but I think Thursday would be much better in a smaller venue. And I've never been to the Masq, and my cousin says its awesome.
