Shit, I forgot that Anberlin released an album this year, it's been so long. As for me I love "Studying Politics" by Emery and probably a Thrice song once I hear the album. Also, that Coldplay song is great too.

Sweet. Coheed will be in mine for sure, but as for the others, I don't know. TJT and AM! are two I'm debating, they'll be in my top 10 I'm sure, though.

Anberlin is definitely not overrated. Despite your dislike for them, they aren't hyped and don't get nearly as much credit as they deserve.

I think Dance, Dance Christa Paffgen is the best song on that album, but Paperthing Hymn did blow me away the first time I heard it.
Song of the year?
Socratic - Lunch for the Sky
Nightmare of You - The Days Go By Oh So Slow
Jack's Mannequin - La La Lie
The Decemberists - The Sporting Life
Death Cab - What Sarah Said
I can name so many more songs that blew me away this year.

dance dance christa pfaffgen is definately emerging as the best song on the album for me. paperthin hymn just blew me away the first time i heard it. dance dance took time, but now i just adore it.
alot of the album is good, but there are some songs that i never recall, sounds a bit samey.

Dance Dance is my favorite song off the album too. However, Paperthin Hymn is just a great song that should be all over the radio. I meant top 5 singles this year I guess.

Jack's Mannequin - La La Lie
I can't even decide which song I like the most from that album, they all just blow me away on individual listens. I had the Decemberists as album of the year, but Jack's Mannequin doens't even leave my cd player anymore.

I dunno what it is, they aren't particularly special in pop-punk, but there is just a certain quality to the music that hooks me. When I got the album, I played it about 20 times through, came back 2 months later and did the same thing. It's one of the few albums this year that has lasted the whole year for me.
And, I actually liked them live when I saw them at Warped Tour.

Yeah, the first song I heard from them was "A Cautionary Song", and I was hooked for life.
Her Majesty had a sort of fantasy to it, the songs flowed so well and the lyrics were just unusual enough to confuse and amaze me.
I agree that Picaresque isn't their best, but I still find it amazing.

The trio of "We Both Go Down Together", "Eli The Barrow Boy" and "The Sporting Life" is what I have on my songs of the year playlist.
We Both Go Down Together is actually one of the simplest songs I have heard, but their is just something in Colin's voice that stands out there
Eli, The Barrow Boy is a creepy combination of the musical style of A Cautionary Song with the storyline type song of Billy Liar.
The Sporting Life, if you look at the lyrics, is possibly my favorite song by them from all their Cd's. It's upbeat, seemingly happy, but it's really quite depressing lyrically.

Let's just agree that it's the album of the year so far.
OK, let's not.
But I think that we can agree that the Black Eyed Peas new song "My Hump" sucks ass.
And we can agree that I have 998 posts woo.

Those three songs are incredible. Eli the Barrow Boy is a very beautiful song.
Time & Confusion is my favorite song off that album by far, probably in my top 5 songs of the year so far.
As for Jack's Mannequin, I can't get into that CD as much as I thought I would. I like the first couple songs and then Into the Airwaves, but I find myself getting bored and annoyed in the middle.

Some of my favorites of the year...
Anberlin - A Day Late
Acceptance - Different
Cartel - Burn This City
Cartel - A
JamisonParker - Here's Everything I've Aways Meant to Say
Waking Ashland - I Am For You
Everytime I hear "A" by Cartel I get the chills. That song is beautiful. The most overrated cd of the year has to be The Spill Canvas'. Maybe it will grow on me, but these guys are NOTHING special, and do not deserve any hype at all.
