Dark Secrets

If I try to look inside
And dig so deep into me
Then I'll just hide my pride
So far back you can never see

Because if you only knew
What rage is held in my hands
There wouldn't be us two
And I couldn't ask you to dance

So please don't look so deep
Into the secrets that I keep
My harsh remarks kept in the dark
Under reinforced lock and key

And if you ever saw
The creature that lives in here
The animal ready to strike with claw
Then you'd be running scared

And if I had to show you the way
I'm sure that I would fall
I see nothing seems right today
And that I'll lose it all

I wish I had that feeling
When you wake up after dreaming
When your heart ceases to race
And you suddenly feel safe

But I'm afraid it will never come
And my eyes will run 'till I'm numb
And when I'm finally done
I might be number one
