View Full Version : Emanuel Would Like To Apologize

Emanuel (http://www.thisisemanuel.com) posted this bulletin on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/emanuel):
"Ok, so yesterday Anthony posted a bulletin about everyone bringing s drugs and apparently offended a lot of you. I personally apologize. He intended it to come off funny and a joke about our lyrical content and about himself occasionally smoking pot. Let me clarify this: The band Emanuel doesn't do drugs. Nor would I ever say anyone else should. It's dangerous, illegal and dumb. It's rare that I even drink a beer. I'm sorry if what he posted bummed you out; it was an exaggeration and supposed to be funny although I agree it wasn't. Seriously, be nice.
P.S. For anyone bummed that we haven't written them back, it's because we don't have a computer. We only have a sideick and java script so I can only see the first ten itmes in our mail box at any one time. However, as soon as I get to a computer I will reply to a ton of them. Promise. Thank you guys."

Eh whatever. I have relatives who have passed away from drugs and alcohol and I can still find it in me to say, "to each their own". If these dudes wanted to shoot heroin every night and snort coke off of each others arms, that's cool for them and that's their choice. Who the fuck am I to be like, "Fuck you guys for doing drugs!"...it's their lives, not mine. There's no reason why a person should be getting worked up over someone else's choices, unless it's hurting them in some way.
Music fans should just accept that (some) bands do drugs... Lots of the time it leads to some of the music we appreciate the most.. So let's not be so quick to condemn them.

haha this summer i was in a back alley behind the ICC church in allston and two of the guys from emanuel were throwing around a football. meanwhile, my friend hefe and i were wasted drinking rum and cokes against a brick wall watching them. i never felt more like a bum. i think the clincher was when i asked them if they agreed it was amazing that my piss stream had travelled about 75 feet down a hill, and they were just like "yeah man".
they didnt look like the type to do drugs and i was wasted. so who cares anyways?

I think the issue is probably more that kids look up to guys in bands as their role models and heroes. I don't think the people that got upset were that way because they're concerned about the band members' health, but more so because of the example they might potentially be setting for younger, more impressionable fans. that's all. yeah, drugs are pretty common in the music business, but no band should flaunt the fact or even really bring it up at all because of stuff like this.

I love this band and think it is great that he came out and said this.
I belive the issue is not them doing drugs, but telling others to bring them, That is illegal and stupid.
If some one had brought drugs then they would be liable also (being how they are role models like it or not).
I have even more respect for Emanuel for coming out and saying this.

So get the bullets alright.
And pull the trigger.
What is there left to lose? Why are you holding back?
Your fifteen minutes will be over in a flash.
Wow, kids really think of these guys as role models? What about their "more impressionable fans?"
And if a band wants to bring up drugs, thats their prerogative. Stop being a yuppy and let them do their thing.
Its when they tell everyone to bring drugs; that's when it becomes a problem.

these guys need to make up their minds--they said they got their band name from one of their drug dealers!!
they're super nice no matter what though.. my band played with them at chain reaction like a month after they signed to vagrant and there were about twelve kids there for them but they rocked out like none other. now they pack that place.

Haha, why`s everyone so pissed about them joking ... too many people take themselves too serious these days ... and I´ve got news for all of you: Some Rock`n`Roll bands do drugs ... ;-) ... some Rock`n`Roll bands did it a long time ago and some will do it in the future .. to each his own ... and how can you think they wanted to provoce a reaction like kids buying drugs and bringing them to shows ... this is so ridiculus ...

They still suck. If I want a band that sounds like The Bronx, GlassJAw, and a crappy vagrant band then I'll listen to The Bronx and GlassJAw, and make fun of crappy vagrant bands.

haha what the fuck? who would get mad or upset if a band does do drugs?
who honestly cares what they're doing unless they're related to you in some way, then why should you really care all that much? I mean, what the fuck can you do about it? nothing...fucking myspace babies.

i don't especially care if they do drugs, as long as its not near me/making me cough up a lung.
