ok guys. what-the-fuck.

so last week i got a job at this new place that just opened, Cheeseburger In Paradise.. for those of you who dont know its like a pretty nice fast food joint thats like owned by Jimmy Buffet. so its a cool job and all but i was never really clear about what the pay was and how it worked.

but tonight they explained to me that my pay is $2.15 an hour. yeah its stupid but in turn it makes sense because i get a tip-share.. just like the hosts and bartenders. the tip-share is basically created to get you enough money to at least equal minimum wage ($5.45 in Ohio) or more.

so ive worked 2 or 3 days and each day at the end of my shift ive gotten cash that was my tip-share. the first 3 days of my job i have gotten tip-shares of: 17, 15, and 13 dollars cash.

REWIND.

so im getting paid 2.15 an hour. plus an average of 15 dollars of tip-share... lets see.. that equals out to what? 3 or 4 dollars an hour even BEFORE taxes. thats REDICULOUS that they would even pay me that. its rude even. i do a lot of work there and my hands are dirty for 5 and a half hours i should earn more pay then the mexican peach pickers in New Mexico.

this is supposed to be a nice job but i could go get a horribly shitty job flipping cardboard patties at Mcdonalds and make twice what i make now.

does anyone else think this is weird? and that a server has pulled in over $160.00 cash in the last 2 days of work and ive made less then 30? i even do more work then those server fucks.

this is not cool at all.

what the fuck is this world coming to?

yeah i know i called the manager like 20 mins ago and told her that this is fucking horse shit.

so im gunna talk to her tomorrow about it and hopefully it gets fixed but all i know is that shit is illegal.

about 5 or 6.that sucks a lot... i get paid more and im 14 i get paid 6.50 an hour minimum wage in NY

yeah well i was getting 7.25 at a lazer tag place but i quit because i thought id be getting SICK ASS tips at this place but it bites so i think im going to go crawling back.

yeah taking a pay cut to work for tips would be understandable. But you are getting royally screwed. Plus I bet that place is the most outrageousely overpriced mediocre restaurant next to Bubba Gump's.

they're required to balance your pay to at least minimum for the hours you worked if tips don't make it to an average of $5.45/hr for the week (in your state)

example: if you worked say 10 hours. you made with your wage 21.50. and you only worked 2 nights and made a total of 32 dollars in tips. that puts you at 53.50. for those hours at minimum wage you would've made 54.50. so they'd need to add a dollar to your paycheck to even it out... that's the law as far as i know from friends that have worked on less than minimum wage places where tips are factored in.

i get paid 5.50 an hour (minimum wage here is 5.15) and i'm already looking for another job because i don't get nearly enough hours to pay bills at 5.50. my last check wasn't too bad... 130. but that was for almost 28 hours. and next week i'm only scheduled for somewhere around 10. :shake:

damn, I gotta say, I love working for my friends parents.

I started at 7.25/hr two years ago, and now I'm a "team leader" making $9/hr.

of course, it's an ice cream shop and it closes next week, and won't be open again until april.

fuck, I need a winter job.
