STAPLE IS REBORN
Current mood:READY
Faithful brothers and sisters,
This is Darin from Staple. In answer to your inquiries, the rumors, and the scheduling at Alive '09 and Ichthus '09:
STAPLE is reborn and booking new shows as you read this. We will be playing ICHTUS '09 and ALIVE '09, along with many more dates are to be announced. After nearly two and a half years of seeking and prayer, and with the blessings of the other original members, I have called on the assistance of several close friends/ tourmates that have been with us over the years to join me in carrying on the vision, the heart, and ministry that Staple stood for since the beginning of our career. Join us for our FIRST SHOW BACK on MARCH 15, 2009 with OH SLEEPER in LAWRENCEBURG, KY. For the entirely new myspace page, the new line-up, info on the involvement of the original line-up, new photos, tour dates, and NEW MUSIC, stay tuned...

I'm not sure that very many people here would care to know this. I do, though. :overhead:

I figured as much, but I also figured that there might be someone who is stoked about it. I got grilled for loving Flyleaf, LOL. People are over the top on how much they dislike certain bands on this site.

I looked at your favorite bands and saw mostly Christian rock and metal... Prepare to be ridiculed to no end. If you can't laugh it off, you're kinda screwed.
See, I like bands like Demon Hunter and Staple, but I also like Thrice, Brand New, and blink-182, so I still kinda almost sorta fit in. :p

Lol. I actually laugh a lot at how people react to me so I am good there. I do like a few bands that aren't Christian, but the majority I do like are, so I am prepared for people trying to shred me, LOL. My friend is going to get me some Thrice to check out. I hear they are really good.

If you some how transition from christian rock to Thrice, I will be amazed.

I hear that one of Thrice's main sources of lyrics is the Bible, and why is is that people think Christian rock is bad? There a lot of great bands that are Christian. Is it because they sing about the Bible and Jesus?

Referencing the Bible and being a christian band are two very different things. Even if you are pulling lyrics from it.

Well, Dustin Kensrue is a more blatant Christian than half the bands in contemporary Christian music, so they'd actually be a pretty good gateway band.

That is like going from Death Cab to Norma Jean.

To be perfectly fair, a lot of Christian rock is pretty bad, especially newer bands. Some are amazing, but others are disgustingly generic. 90s Christian music was amazing, though... dc Talk, Audio Adrenaline, the O.C. Supertones, and Jars of Clay were so good.

Their sound and style is going to shocking to someone that listens to slower paced music.

1.) The person we're talking about likes Staple, Demon Hunter, and other bands like that. None of Thrice's heaviest material would be very shocking in comparison.
2.) If we're only comparing Thrice to softer CCM bands, then The Alchemy Index Vol. 3 & 4 would still work out well.
I understand what you're saying, though.

Kinda the same, but they give a nostalgic feeling, so I still love 'em. I'll still check out the new stuff.

Indeed... "Deathtrap Daisy" was the bomb.

I still do not understand why people in the music thread do this. If you don't like the band, and if you don't comment, pretty soon the thread is off the main page and you don't have to worry about it.

I don't think its that big of a transition. I like a lot of Christian metal music, or Christian music in general, and I love Thrice. The heavier material on The Illusion of Safety or Artist In the Ambulance would be good.

Just a small Christian hard rock band. I really doubt a lot of people would know about them on ap.

Really? You have got to be kidding me.

Granted, I like the new band Israel's in much more than I like Staple. (If you didn't know, he's the bassist of Disciple now. Now THAT is a sweet nostalgic band for me. I still genuinely love them.)

DVD was a fantastic way to start that full-length. I still rock that song pretty hard.

I could never really get into Disciple, or any other really big Christian hard rock bands. The only ones I really enjoyed were Staple and Spoken actually.

Spoken is legit. They've never been a very unique band, but they've always done whatever they do rather well. I'm looking forward to their next album for sure.
New Disciple isn't that good besides a few songs, though Southern Hospitality was a little bit of a throwback. Back Again was solid, and This Might Sting A Little is amazing. They were so in-your-face Christian back then... Man, I miss those days.
