Duncan Redmonds - Bubble and Squeak
Record Label: World Records
Release Date: March 17, 2009

Bubble and Squeak is a 22-track compilation of musical wiz Duncan Redmonds' work over the span of 4 years' time (2004-2008). Redmonds is a knowledgeable on the album, covering every instrumental base possible in punk rock music. Plus, there's plenty here for the hardcore punk/orgcore enthusiast to drool over. Big name contributions from acts like NOFX, The Pissmops and Billy No Mates make eye catching appearances while listeners will also be introduced to perhaps previously undiscovered gems à la Guns 'n' Wankers. And just like that, a quick glance at an otherwise neglected album with a fun cover turns Bubble and Squeak into a must-buy for any self-proclaimed punk fan.

The opener is a The Pissmops track titled "Allotment No. 44" featuring Redmonds on the drum set. Its anthemic feel contrasts nicely with the hardcore flavored followup "Homosexual WWIII," which in turn leads to the melodic "Guilty." "Might See You Later" is a Guns 'n' Wankers party-er that gives listeners a taste of Redmonds on vocal duty (Redmonds vocals are decent and enjoyable, if nothing out of the ordinary), whereas "Working Class Smell" is a profane Hard Skin bad boy. Billy No Mates brings some oriental punk influence to the picture with "Sake Bomb" and The Pissmops top it all off with the boisterous "Tea."

It's hard to believe that with some proper promotion, the majority of punk fans in the world won't have this record roosting somewhere in their most anticipated releases this year. Whether it's Redmonds on the drums, Redmonds on the bass, Redmonds on the guitar or Redmonds on vocals, each track manages to bring an instinctive and impressive punk rock feel. With so many rarities, shout-along verses and choruses, and prestigious features packaged in one album, Bubble and Squeak is simply difficult to resist.
