I heard the boxset sucks. like it really is demos because they are really poor quality. as opposed to a really good "boxset" like The Cure's Connect the Dots

I love the boxset to death. The set was worth the price just for Do Re Mi. If you don't have the cash for the lovely box set, I suggest picking this up. Do Re Mi is delicious.

Nirvana is dead. Get the fuck over it.

Most overrated band of all time. Did they start a revolution? Yes. Were they insanely influential? Yes. Was their music any good? No.

Haha, calm down, it's all opinion Scott. Nirvana is quite possibly my favorite band of all time and that's never going to change.

but if he hadnt been around none of the shit out now would be around so go fuck yourself, dumbass. praising the fact that anyone killed themself is awful, you are a sad excuse for a human being.

yay, more stuff to buy from Nirvana. I guess the 4 albums, the black disc, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, and the box wasn't enough.
I might still buy it anyway...have to have a complete collection. I wonder if they're gonna release another box set just to include the song "marijuana"

If you turn on the radio here in Seattle, you'll still hear Nirvana/Soundgarden/Alice in Chains/Pearl Jam/Mudhoney/ Any other Seattle grunge band within 15 minutes. People idolize them here...I hate grunge and always have. When people say that Cobain was one of the world's best musicians, I cringe - even Cobain would tell people that he sucked at guitar. Listen to their songs, he can't play worth crap.

that is the biggest contradiction ever.

yeah his guitar playing is awful, and some fans will admit that but then immediately follow with how good of a lyricist he was....and honestly I just don't see that either.

Nirvana is bigger and better than anything that anyone of you guys listen to today, strictly based on their influence.....i've been waiting my whole life for another music revolution and it hasnt happened and im not sure it will... I don't think their should be any argument that they were one of the best bands ever becuase they are, we wouldn't be talking about them right now if they weren't. Nirvana is in a category of their own and as far as im concerned no band in this scene or any other rock outfit can even touch their influence. only when another band comes along and gives this shitty hip hop/pop musical world a makeover, will we begin to talk about 'them' and Nirvana will take a backseat for a while, but they will never fade away they were that damn good

I just dont understand why nirvana is so damn great. Except for Dave Grohl who is one of the hardest working men in music.

It's not a matter of Kurt being a talented guitarist or musician, because he obviously was a poor one. It was about him being a talented songwriter who knew how to connect with his listeners.

can't people get over this fucking band?

Yeah, they were influential and inspired plenty of artists who I listen to now, but re-re-re-re-re-releasing music isn't going to bring Kurt Cobain back so why not just give it up?

(and lo, I just read a very similar comment above mine)

It's too bad no one is trying to capitalize of Nirvana 11 years after they were finished, I bet you could make a lot of money selling shitty demo recordings of Kurt Cobain in his basement.

I agree with the ones who say Nirvana is overrated.

And I personally always liked Pearl Jam a bit more.

i enjoy nirvana because kurt understood the punk rock mentality of music. to me thats what made them so enjoyable. he didnt have to be the most amazing guitar player or the most amazing singer or the most amazing lyricist, he just played. you have the give credit to the guy, he could right catchy songs, and he didn't have to pay some lame ass producer a million bucks to help him.
