Wild Light - Adult Nights

Starting things off with the catchy California-bashing anthem (and also single) “California on My Mind,” I immediately perceived that Wild Light would be off to a wonderful start with Adult Nights.
Wild Light has gained quite a quick-spreading buzz as they began their touring around Boston and New York over the past few years. Making music together even throughout their high school days years ago, the four childhood friends making up Wild Light officially formed as a band in 2005. As if this potential of band chemistry isn’t enough already, then surely one of the former founders of the Arcade Fire, Timothy Kyle, is regarded as the cherry on top.
Written in mostly cold-wintry conditions in New Hampshire, Adults Nights was recorded in sunny Los Angeles, which reasonably compiles a similarity to how the album seems to flow. Although the tracks may sound happy or “sunny” upfront, inside them are stories that undeniably have a “colder” feel to them than expected, but also find a light within the darkness, something I would consider as a “wild light”.
Having a somewhat folk approach with Adult Nights, the New Hampshire quartet uses less of an acoustic approach and exercises a crafty use of pop layering, which intertwines both the folk and pop attributes in a very unique way. As it utilizes a number of different instruments throughout, Adult Nights gives every track its very own distinctness, each holding its own charming allure after repeated listens.
Already achieving fame after winning Boston Music Award’s “Outstanding Rock Act of the Year,” as well as touring with bands such as The Stills, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and MGMT among others, it’s lucid to say that Wild Light will gain even more success with the release of Adult Nights under their belt. It is obvious that after listening to Adult Nights, Wild Light wants listeners to know that making music really matters to them. If music listeners are interested in purchasing any new releases this year it should be Wild Night's debut, releasing on March 3, 2009; Wild Light shows absolutely no disappointment in this dazzling effort.
