Poison the Well - II/III
Release Date: January 20, 2009
Record Label: Ferret Records
II/III has arrived! These two Versions b-sides (thank you, whoever from the I/III review) are the first of the four tracks that I actually believe deserve to be just that.
The first of these that actually doesn't live up to the genius of that album, however, is "Shuffle." It's not a bad track by any means, but it drags its feet (you could say it "shuffles") and just doesn't get to its point quickly enough.
Luckily "Bowie" revitalizes this two track adventure and displays something on par with the other two b-sides, as well as Versions as a whole. This track, like "Shuffle," is predominately clean vocals, and Moreirra pulls off this one without a hitch.
Of course, Poison the Well couldn't exactly release a full eighteen song album, it makes sense that they would choose to cut quite a few tracks. While this 7" may contain the first dud, (and by dud I mean it just doesn't live up to the album), it's still a worthy release for any fan of Versions and Poison the Well.
