I can't respect someone who calls her a "dumb bitch." Do I need to remind you that her son lost his life so you and everyone else could feel safe?
Show some respect, because that's really immature.

She deserves to be arrested for standing in one place for too long?
Don't give me that "loitering is illegal" bullshit either, because it is never enforced by the police.

Yes. She got arrested. What was she doing? Illegally getting into the Congress building with her activist buddies and wreaking havoc. I don't care WHAT you're fighting for, that is pretty uncalled for.
Whether her son lost her life or not, you do NOT have the right to riot inside Congress. And yes, it's sad her son died, but he enlisted. Many people die. If everyone who willingly enlisted and died in a war's families decided to RIOT CONGRESS, I wonder what kind of mess we'd be in right now.

And yes, it's sad her son died, but he enlisted. Many people die.
Are you kidding me? So because he enlisted, it's okay that he died, right?
And where did you read that they were causing trouble in the Congress? Because in all news I've read, it seems like she was outside the White House?

did you even read that? she stood in front of the white house. maybe you should read the article next time. i'd suggest doing so before making a comment like that.
also, when i first saw the thread, i thought it was about billy sheehan being arrested.

she broke the law and got arrested, plain and simple. and don't say that they don't arrest for loitering, because my eighty-year-old grandpa has been kicked out of a mall for loitering (while he was waiting for my grandma to get done in a store)...and that was just a mall, not the white house. they warned the protesters to move, but they wouldn't. it's their own fault that they got arrested. i'm not surprised they refused to move, because getting arrested gives them more publicity.

To all the people who are calling her a stupid woman read the story about her son and how long he was there and maybe you'll understand. Its not like he showed up the first week and died. He was there a long time. He would write to his mother saying he felt they were making no progress. He was writing saying that he though this war was going to be another Vietnam. He enlisted but like other soldiers that were at the protest they feel as the war just has gone to far. And these soldiers were told they were going home. We have been there for what going on 3 years now? I can't believe I don't know the number but I don't. But we have been there a very long time, and there is no sign of improvement and no sign of us being out anytime soon until 2008 when Bush is gone, unless we get another Republican president in that case who knows.
Most people went into the army because they had no choice. If they didn't go into the army they had no money, no education, nothing. They have no options. They don't go because they are patriotic, in an ironic way they go to the service to live. To get out of poverty stricken areas so they can get an education and money in their pocket, as little as it is which is a travesty in itself.
Look if you aren't going to make an educated statement and you aren't going to know your stuff keep your views to yourself because there is no quality worse than ignorance.

So "What the cunt?" is an an OK thread title, but mine wasnt?
Calling someone a stupid bitch, whose own family has outrightly stood against her is inappropriate? Someone who has been turned into a political tool by the left, and brought the public eye to herself is not allowed to be scrutinized? Come on!

Dan Hollister
09/27/05, 02:52 AM
Same. I would very much fight if I weren't under a lot of obligations here as it is.
And I did read the article. I also read several others, in fact. That's why I came about that answer because a couple of them said she was banging on office doors that are not in the front of the building. Perhaps I misread, since maybe she wasn't actually inside, but she was DEFINITELY an an area she shouldn't have been in.
Look, I get that you guys are saying her son died, he died in vain, the war is bad, yada yada yada. But do you really think there should be a fucking riot over it? It's war! Even if the war were approved of more, that doesn't make people die less or pain go away. Yes, I understand what they are feeling. The pain they're going through. HOWEVER, pain and death DO NOT give you the right to perform illegal activities.
If the government put us under martial law, sent spies to kill her family, forced everyone to join the military, then OK, that might justify a revolution. But that is not what happened here. What happened here was a mother lost her son, and no amount of talking is going to fix that. You can't expect the government to speak and cater to the needs of all irate parents. You could have a full-time job doing that.
But a soldier doing his part, and losing his life, is not a cause for uproar. It's a cause for mourning and for honoring his sacrifice. Not placing blame on a government that was not responsible for his death. Hell, this isn't a time for blame on ANYONE. He died. I am sorry. Remember him, and honor him. Performing illegal activities against the government is not honor. As rebellious as many of the people on this site may be, this is not the way you make things right. This is just the way you stir trouble and get arrested.

If you knew me, you'd know how much I hate that word. But I've given up trying to edit all posts where that word is used. People abuse that word on AP.
Besides, it's not a rule anyway. I haven't seen Jason post anywhere that that word isn't allowed, so I'll edit whatever I feel like needs to be edited. When you're a moderator, you can do whatever you please. This is how I moderate these forums.

Eda, it has nothing to do with you being a bad moderator, it has to do with you employing your obvious political bias in moderating. We all know you are very liberal, very anti-Bush, and very anti-War. You blatantly edited something that you disagreed with politically. Its uncalled for. Say you have no respect for me, call me out on being asshole (or dont, I enjoy that too much) and downright hate me if you want, but dont use your bias to edit what I say.

And then you bring up the other thread "what in the cunt" and ask why that thread wasnt edited. Your post is addressing a person the other one isnt. I dont see how you can compare the two.

I simply edited the title of a thread because I thought it was uncalled for. You've never seen me start a thread like, "George Bush is a dumb f**k" or something like that. Have you? I'm not being biased here. You could have said the same thing about someone else, and I would have done the same thing.
I just think that thread titles should be about what you're going to post. They have to somewhat be related to what you're going to talk about. But maybe that's just me? I always try to post the headlines or the name of the article (whatever you want to call it) whenever I start a thread. Wouldn't that be more accurate?

It has nothing to do with my political views. If it was because of that, then a lot of threads around here would be edited, and especially posts.
Oh well, if you really want to change the title, then go do it. You can have the old one if it really means so much.

When you talk to people in real life about something you've talked about at some other random point in your life, do you prematurely stop it as it's getting good because it was once discussed previously?

and face to face conversations are very different. I'm not telling you that people can't debate over abortion because they have before. I'm simply telling you to go post on the thousands of threads that already exist on the topic.

I am to lazy to google some stuff and go to some favorite sites so all i will say is drive through some poor neighborhoods and some rich neighborhoods and compare the Army Recruiting Center's you see. They market towards the people with lower economic standing.
In terms of not getting out till 2008 that is just an opinion. I don't think we will be out until 2007-2008.
In terms of progress and improvement I don't see how you can say we have. We took Saddam out. That is one thing. Soliders and civilians are still dying, the country is in turmoil, we have put together a puppet government that won't work mark my words. That isn't my idea of improvement.
And just a quick note. We have killed upwards of 25-30,000 civilians not counting soldiers/infidels whatever you want to call them in Iraq. I'd imagine the number is around 40-50,000 people we have killed in Iraq. That is really just sad.

Sending troups into a country to 'free' them against their wishes is not going to work unless the people want it. Basic history 101 (Nicaragua, Vietnam in recent times. Americas struggle for independence from the British to an extent).
And hey I guess all those oil reserves are just a nice little bonus of liberating the people. I'm sure Cheney/Bush/Powell/Rice didn't see any slight economic benefit in those reserves at all.

Please do show the "slight" economic benefit Cheny/Bush/Powell/Rice have seen from these reserves? There hasn't been any. Since the United States has bungled the security situation the US has failed it's goal of 3 billion barrels a day production by December 2004. There have been more than 100 attacks against the countries pipeline system.
I'm not saying oil was the reason for the Iraqi war. However I find it rather unbelieable that two former/current executives of oil firms (Rice - Mobil/Exxon, Cheney - Hallinurton) didn't see any potential economic benefit of a US friendly government instated in Iraq.
And since Halliburton's subsidy Houston based KBR has seen contracts such as Qarmat Ali water treatment plant ($225 million) and Al Fathah pipelines reconsturction ($75 million) that perhaps Cheney may have just seen a tiny bit of economic benefit himself?
