So, I'm sitting here trying to turn out a 10 page paper and listening to the Big Fish soundtrack because that's my default homework music. What do you guys use? Do you listen to anything? I find lyrics distracting and even music without lyrics that i know really well.

Last night I ended up listening to Godspeed You Black Emperor while studying for some finals, though I generally just listen to jazz while studying/doing homework.

this is a cool thread, so im gonna bump it back up.
i like post-rock for essays and reading
anything not metalcore/hardcore/punk for maths. Deas Vail and Pedro The Lion mainly.

Circle of Contempt and Dillinger for Calculus. I figure complex rhythms help me do better on complex equations haha.

All Shall Perish / Within the Ruins / Etc. for everything else.

The Postal Service's album and Explosions In the Sky worked. Usually calm stuff helps me concentrate more.

It's too much of a distraction for me.

I don't usually listen to music while doing homework because vocals make it hard for me to concentrate, even if it's ambient stuff like Radiohead or Sigur Ros.

So really, my only choices are classical music (which I've been listening to all my life and am therefore pretty tired of) and Sufjan Stevens' the BQE.

Any other good instrumental stuff?

Anything on my iPod.
I've got a ton of homework this weekend to catch up on because I missed 3 days and lately I've been into anything Bring Me The Horizon. Specifically It Was Written In Blood and their new song, "Don't Go" So that's what I've been listening to while doing that.
