Moshing or Hardcore Dancing?

Every day I come on here and look at the Show Reviews and Setlist section and there is always a debate whether Hardcore Dancing is gay or if Moshing sucks. This poll will decide what is the best form of concert madness.

I am big fan of moshing, and I think that all hardcore dancing is a bunch of kids throwing there hands up.

Moshing is fun and not very violent. Hardcore dancing is by far the most retarded fucking thing I've ever seen in terms of music. It makes concerts way less fun(like at an NFG show when you have "sweet" hardcore dancers in the pit). If you get caught with one of those flailing arms your liable to get knocked out. Hardcore dancing just looks like your going into convulsions and don't know what else to do but throw your arms around.

Considering how many concussions I've had during my lifetime (not from moshing), I get really pissy when someone smacks me in the head if I stand near the "pit". If I do need my quick fix of moshing, I do it, but most of the time I see a band I'm in love with and I stay in the front and watch and sing along.

Just to add to what you said, I was at a Before Their Eyes concert, and of course, you get the douchebags who dont listen to the music, they play it on their headphones so that other like minded douches will accept them, and I was towards the frong singing along and having a good time. Hardore dancer fails around and hits me in the my kidney area, I give a forceful shove and he gets all pissy. Later in the set, I try to start some fun moshing, none of the Slayer death pits, but just some fun shoving. A kid gets mad at me and tells me that no one wants to mosh because "Hardcore dancing takes talent."

You should at least check out Relationship of Commander which is by far their best album. Plus it has One Armed Sicsscor. I like a lot of their songs but that is the only full ATDI album I like. Shit is classic. Its right up their with Full Collapse

neither of these are fun at shows anymore. it's a bunch of internet kids converging in one place with a bunch of pent up aggression and testosterone/estrogen, so they end up taking it out on each other with these lame ass "mosh fights". Kid A pushed Kid B, Kid B retaliates, Kid A goes back in for more whoopin, and Kid C gets in the mix because his dumbass girlfriend decided that she'd rather cause a fuss instead of moving away from the pit.

Then theres breakdowns and I can see how hardcore dancing can fit I guess. I wont lie I hardcore danced before even after I said Id only mosh. I did kicks across a pit or windmill things when no one was doin shit in the pit, but why the fuck hate on each other. At shows ive seen it turn to Hardcore VS mosh and big ass fights poppin off.

Another thing is some hardcore dancers take it too far.. I dont have a problem if they keep there space and stay in the pit, sometimes people get hurt, but it happens in a pit too, everyones friends afterward. Some of those motherfuckers intentionally hit people outside the pit minding there own buisness. Those are the hardcore dancers that piss me off. Theres no point in that.. If they wanted to be in the pit and be at risk of being hit.. they woulda been in the fucking pit. I believe everyone should respect one another. You go to a show to have fun not to get into a brawl. So you have your fun, but let other people have theirs too

I saw Attack!Attack! open for Escape the fate. Im not a fan of Escape the fate, but I stayed for the pit. It was the frienliest shit ive seen. The pit was raging all night, and then the breakdown came in and people cleared out and the hardcore dancers took the spotlight. I didnt see anything like that before

QFT. it's ridiculous. i hate going to bigger shows at a venue like Chain Reaction because it seems less like people are trying to have a good time and more like they're all trying to prove themselves. it's pretty stupid.

i'll admit, i occasionally hardcore dance, but only when i'm hanging out with friends at my house and we're just fucking around. i do enjoy moshing though, but i can't just mosh to anything. it has to be like super chaotic grindcore/noisecore, thrash punk, or something of that nature. and most of the shows i go to are like small shows in basements or record stores where the kids are all there for the music. they're pretty fun though. so in case you can't tell, i prefer moshing. that and two-stepping. but the crazy two-step where people are moving around and crashing into each other.

also, my first time in the pit i lost my shoe. that was fun. don't wear slip-ons, regardless of show size. haha.

also. i'm not an idiot. i understand going to like a day to remember or attack attack show, and people are hardcore dancing. but, going to like the wonder years and people are two-stepping in the pit is ridiculous. i saw motion city soundtrack, and that was the nicest pit by far. i fell over and some kid immediately helped me up instead of running me over. it was all push-moshing. also, when i say stage diving is the most fun, i mean when you do it right. none of that knees first shit, always go back first.
