Anyone heard of it?
Apparently it's a new show from the producers of ER (as if that counts for anything)
But it has ben mckenzie who did ok in the OC.
it sounds good though, a drama about cops in LA.
Plus its on thursday, so LOST fans are safe.

Just tried to watch the HULU version, but either the sites busy or my connection sucks, cause it was all jumpy and delayed.
What I saw looked interesting, sort of a toned down version of the Shield. I'll watch cause I was very impressed with NBC's other new show Kings....but I don't have high hopes.

Wasn't bad, probably better then I was expecting given its from the people behind ER, but it certainly wasn't original. Basically it was a toned down Sheild, with almost all the same characters. Personally I could do without the preachiness, "you don't live in this neighborhood," type shit.

ratings for episode 3:
NBC moved into third, with My Name Is Earl (5.5 million, 2.2) flat and the third week of Parks and Recreation (5.2 million, 2.3) nodding down 8%. The Office (7.2 million, 3.7) was down 12% yet once again edged out CSI to place second in the 9 p.m. hour; 30 Rock (6.3 million, 3.1) slipped a similar amount. Week three of Southland (8 million, 2.5), up against Practice for the first time, fell into second place in the hour and was down 17%. NBC expected Southland to take a hit this week, but hoped for a softer thump.

It plays here at the 9 o'clock hour which I guess is considered the 'adult hour'. But the show already censors the thing the FCC cares most about, language. So I really don't think the movie down an hour will change much. The show's pretty tame right now, CSI is far more violent and airs in the 9/8 timeslot.

This show has really grown on me...the wife and i are both pretty hooked. It's the characters i really like. Someone drew a Shield comparison, and i totally see that, but i think there's a lot of fresh storytelling here, especially with Shawn Hatsoy & his wife. Great ensemble.
If i had to complain, i feel like there's kind of an emotional void in the acting, but then again maybe that's the point. looking forward to more...

That's a load, producers had already been complaining about how tame NBC had made them make the first couple episodes of the second season due to the 8 pm time slot. The truth is it was expensive to produce (which was brought up about the first season too) and NBC is dead broke and went with Dateline because its probably a third the cost. Everything about NBC is a joke.
I'm kind of hoping USA picks it up since they are own by NBC, but the production cost would have to be slashed. Somebody will probably show the 6 (7?) episodes....Bravo has a habbit of showing canceled shows.
This is the first cop show I've ever liked.

Honestly, it should have gone there in the first place. A show with that many characters and storylines just isn't good for a struggling network and was just awkward on a Thursday night as it was just filling the complimentary "ER" spot that people stopped watching. TBS is much more skewed towards people that would watch the show.
And to say NBC is a joke is ridiculous. Their ratings are pretty bad, but they have some of the best shows on TV - "Friday Night Lights," "Chuck," their entire Thursday night lineup. It's pretty good.

John Wells: Two nets in 'Southland' mix
TNT interested in taking cop drama
By Nellie Andreeva
Oct 18, 2009, 11:00 PM ET
"Southland"
Keep up the faith, "Southland" fans.
John Wells, executive producer of the recently canceled NBC drama, called actors on the show late last week to tell them he is in talks with two networks about the cop series finding a new home.
Wells reportedly didn't identify the networks, but TNT, corporate sibling of show producer Warner Bros. TV, has been interested in acquiring the series and is considered the most likely contender to pick it up.
Even if a deal is to be made to go to another network, there are indications that "Southland," whose production was shut down by NBC this month, won't resume filming anytime soon. The potential buyer would run the seven episodes from the first season and the six produced episodes from the second as a 13-episode freshman cycle.

I hear it looks certain for a TNT pickup of Southland, which was dumped by NBC. People working on the show are being told to prepare for a projected November 2nd resume shooting date, but that may be premature. Warner Bros has no official announcement. But that's because TNT and NBC are still negotiating moolah terms, according to my sources. *UPDATE: "NBC has been holding things up, but we're getting closer," a show insider just told me tonight. "This behavior from NBC has been unbelievable and amazingly fucked-up -- even for them -- which is really saying something..."*
C'mon, was there really any doubt that TNT would want this Warner Bros series? Especially since John Wells and Barry Meyer are joined at the hip? Plus, judging from the fan furor, the show deserved another try. Anyway, at this moment, this is what I understand to be the most accurate info.

my main thing is look at the other shows they cancel after one season, most of them stay dead and gone, rarely does another network pick them up. did they have jericho back in the day? i forget.
jericho was on CBS i believe, and wasn't very good.
jericho was awesome, at least for the first season. the second season was all sorts of jumping the shark and was totally obvious the show was now doomed.

Really was... that shooting scene in the station was intense. Best cop show out there these days imo.

Lol they film where I lived.
i didnt know there was a thread for this! LOVE this show, coming from someone in law enforcement, this is easily the most realistic cop show around. Great premier the other night but are chiki and Sal not in this season? Also, the pd shooting seems to be inspired by this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at2LfqrYbhw&oref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2 Fresults%3Fsearch_query%3Ddetroit%2 Bpolice%2Bshooitng%2B%26oq%3Ddetroi t%2Bpolice%2Bshooitng%2B%26aq%3Df%2 6aqi%3D%26aql%3D%26gs_sm%3De%26gs_u pl%3D1909l6920l0l7472l32l29l4l14l14 l0l201l1473l3.7.1l11l0&has_verified=1

Agreed. Such a good show. Wow it is crazy that something like that happened.
Also, for some reason I think Sal left the show not 100% sure though.

Yep.
At the end of the newest episode, what was on the paper that Anawalt handed Ben? I wasn't really paying attention, and when I tried to see what it was it was too late.

mcdonalds application. it was definitely interesting watching ben's actions from last week boil over into the new ep, especially the different reactions ben got from women. personally, i thought what he did was deplorable, but others outside of the show disagree. ok then.
i'm really enjoying this season so far. it's a shame that the show is continually facing budget issues, but how far they stretch a dollar is amazing.

Oh, haha. Now I get it. I figured that it probably had something to do with flirting with him, but I wasn't sure.
And I agree with you about his actions being deplorable. I understand in the context that he had to do something, but I don't understand how the chick at the beginning of last night's episode was turned on by it.

yea, after he teased her all ep, i applauded her being able to rightfully do it right back. although, they both fucked up, so.
RIGHT? i guess being abused makes some women hot. weird.
I really hope that this gets picked up for a 4th season, anyone know how its doing with the ratings?

This show is awesome. I can't believe how good it is. I don't like what Sherman did but she was leaving him with few choices.

This season is pretty awesome already! I was so bummed when NBC originally cancelled it.
