View Full Version : so my ex-girlfriend wants to be friends

we were together for 2 1/2 years but broke up over a year ago. then we were off-and-on until about 2 months ago when i cut all ties with her. then out of the blue, she called my parents' house phone while i was there and we started talking again.. reluctantly at first until breaking out into an all out shouting match a few days ago. now she's saying she wants to be friends.
what should i do about this? i'm not sure if i want to be friends. my other option is to shut her out again, but we still have feelings for each other, so that doesnt sound like it would work, one of us would inevitably end up contacting the other, so it would just end up coming full circle again. so god damned confused right now.

shut her out. i was in the same position and it was the best decision.
No. Just don't do it.
Unless you want to have awkward drunken sex one last time.
tell her that you only want to be friends with benefits.

Shut her out, because if you don't you're always gonna be having some type of feelings for her, regardless if you're friends or not.

almost the same exact thing happened to me a week ago.

I really wouldn't. Give it a significant amount of more time

Redundant, but don't. I've tried this. It doesn't work.

me too... but if u can get sex out of it with no feelings attached go for it. prob not worth it tho, too many risks
I'm going to side with everyone else and say do not be friends with her until you have moved on.

i kind of had this same situation.
we're ok now.. but i feel like everytime i say anything she twists and turns it into something petty and argumentative-- so i'm just going the do-no-speak-unless-spoken-to route.

not really, actually.
we eventually grow out of people-- or at least i have with my ex. i still think she's sort of cute, but i can't really stand her very well anymore.

almost the same situation going on here, despite the off-and-on and the detail... i'm thinking being friends is pretty cool with me.
i'm not sure how it all ended for you two, but under certain circumstances, i completely support staying friends.

the wanting to be friends thing is totally something I used on my ex shortly after we broke up when we weren't talking. since then we've been on and off/talking/fucking/etc. the friends thing doesn't work.

I've had nothing but trouble when it came to something like this. Best advice I can give is leave her out in the cold rain.

Ugh. I'm going thru the EXACT same thing right now. We decided not to go back out and she said she just wants to chill for awhile. But she still tells me things like "i love you". From what I read on here, it's a bad idea to keep this going on but I just have no idea how to avoid her. No matter what I always end up seeing her and she EXPECTS me to drive her to school in the morning and I don't know how to tell her I don't want to... I'm so screwed man.

women are all fucking insane. i dont like being friends with girls period. definitely not ex girlfriends. what are you REALLY going to gain by being friends with her? watching her go out with other dudes? listening to her get pissed if you talk about another girl? you will never be able to be yourself 100% around that person. fuck it man. in the long run, it will not be worth it. out of sight and out of mind.

She just wants to be abe to call you up for every now ad then for sex. She doesn't want to be friends, she just wants the benefits.

I forgot his name, so sue me! I really wanted to find a video clip of the whole "it's a trap" scene from Boy Meets World, but youtube let me down.

Read my signature, then never talk to her again.
the friend way is bad. especially if one there are still feelings lingering from the relationship. since one of you will eventually move on and start dating and the other will just be jealous.
