Best live band?

I'll be the first to admit that I still have not seen many bands live... However, out of the few I've seen, deciding which one has the best live act is tough. What do you think?

i've only seen Brand New out of that list, so they win by default, but i am pretty sure i wouldn't want to see any of those other bands anyway.

Out of those, I've only seen Bayside and Underoath. I chose Bayside because I've seen them like 4 times now.

it kind of sucks because i love brand new, but the first time i saw them, back in 03 or 04, when they came to england, they were the most boring band ever. or rather, jesse was the most obirng fron tman ever.
he couldnt get any more miserable.
good show but no... performance.
i have to say they have been better the other times i;ve seen them but they say first impressions count...

Out of those I've seen NFG, Underoath, Bayside and Mewithoutyou. Even though NFG is one of my favorite bands I would say Underoath. They are fucking sick live and have so much energy, passion, and stage presence. Spencer really knows how to command the crowd

This. Word for word. Welle except it was 03-04 for me when I saw Brand New. The Brand New shows have gotten considerably better so maybe it was an off night.

NFG is my favorite band so I may be biased but they always put on the greatest show of my life...Until the next NFG show haha.

I dont even listen to NFG but seeing them live made me shit myself... almost identical to the albums

Totally agree with you there. I remember the first time I saw them on the Taste of Chaos when they were just starting to take off after Chasing Safety and they came on stage and brought it better than any of the bands on that tour. On Reinventing Your Exit, Spencer came out into the crowd and I was screaming into the microphone with him, and that to this day is my favorite concerting experience.

Ive never seen a true live set from Brand New, only some acoustic sets. The sets were still really great though. And I saw NFG play once and they were also great. But my favorite band to see live is I Am The Avalanche, hands down no question

Dude Thrice would have this. Definitely the best live band I've seen, on or not on this list.

U/O sounds like the cd and they go nuts on stage the entire time, i love BN & Copeland live too though, i saw mewithoutyou before I knew who they were and blew me away, but it was only that once.


I wasnt impressed with Bayside (it was a long time a go though) and Saosin was a joke when i saw them (post AG)

I've only seen NFG, Bayside, and Brand New. I pick NFG seeing as that night Brand New didn't seem too into it, if that makes any sense. That and I've never thought Bayside was very good live. Just me.

i think the best live show award deserves to go to either Mute Math or the Chariot. No other bands bring it as hard and passionately as they do on stage.

I love Brand New. LOVE LOVE LOVE Brand New

but honestly, their live shows AREN'T great. Unless you are a BN fan. If you're not, you wouldn't like them. They're pretty boring.

Underoath is extremely intense live and honestly it's one of the few reasons I like the band. It's the intensity. So my pick is UO.

I've seen NFG from a distance, I would assume it'd be fun.
And mewithoutyou was cool, but when I saw them it was short set (which disappointed the heck outta me)

I wish Portugal. The Man was on the list, they are easily one of the best bands I've ever seen live. Their songs live are so much different than what they have on their cds.

I have seen most all of these bands live a number of times, but I have yet to see As Cities Burn play live yet. I do enjoy their recordings alot and look forward to their upcoming albumn. Hopefully I will catch them on an upcoming tour. I voted for Bayside. I have seen them play a number of times and they play with their heart. I love how into they get and they don't try at all to be flashy rockstars. No make up, no fashion, just sweat, sweat and spit!

haha yea, a lot of people seem to be saying the same exact thing... which is weird because when i saw them about a year ago they completely blew me away.. I tend to be a bit picky with live shows as well.

I guess it just depends on what each persons definition of "good live" is.

Brand New is very hit or miss live. I the first time I saw them I thought they were good, but not amazing. Then I saw them a second time and it was the best show I'd ever seen, making the first time suck more in comparison. NFG has never disappointed me, but they just have a lower ceiling.

And as for the real best live bands I'd throw on Against Me!, The Hives, The Flaming Lips, Blindside, and The Living End to go along with BN.

I mean, to be fair, I haven't seen them all.. but the comparison between New Found Glory on their album vs. live is like night and day. Their albums are spectacular, but their live show is a complete 180. 150% better. They're amazing live.
