View Full Version : The Minor League Thread...

The search bar turned up absolutely nothing, which was very surprising.

Minor league sports are an interest among many in the U.S. and Canada, so why not talk about it?

(It wouldn't make sense to make a minor league thread for each sport, as it's no where near popular enough.)

If you get any responses in here, good luck. Typically we just keep the minor league talk to the respective major sports threads.

haha...

That does make sense, but y'know, there are some dedicated minor league fans, and talking about minor league sports in the big league threads and leave you leaving somewhat inferior.

my travel baseball team used the old Redhawks logo so I'm not a big fan of the new logo.

kind of hard to get into any real discussion about minor league sports when most teams play in smaller cities, for the most part they're not televised, and the rosters are in constant flux.

I actually really like going to the Redhawks games. The Bricktown Ballpark is pretty badass.

The balcony on the right in the first picture is a Coach's restaurant. It's a cool place to watch from.

I'm from the UK so I'm guessing no one will care but I'll throw it out there anyway and it is a minor league:

Go Stingrays!

They're my hometown hockey team who play in the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL for short).

love that setting. The Corpus Christi Hook's stadium is right on the beach. The place is covered in seagulls almost every game, but it's the coolest atmosphere ever for a game.

I think I'm gonna be there in early to mid-April to see the Redbirds play the Redhawks. Never actually seen a game in there, but I've eaten at Coach's. I love that stadium.

That stadium is absolutely gorgeous...

Even with that pretty big bridge right beyond the fence (which is kickass, BTW), the park still has that small town charm.

Moline/Davenport is seriously a perfect setting for minor league sports.

Dunedin's also the home of former Cubs first-round pick and professional piece of dogshit Ryan Harvey.

I saw Brian Dopirak is in the Blue Jays system yesterday and it took me back to MVP 05 when I re-named all of the Top 100 prospects to their actual names and he was among them as the Cubs 1B of the future. Those were the days.

Consider they're affiliated with the Rays(who have great prospects usually), they kind of suck.

Well, Hudston Valley is literally the lowest form of professional baseball that is still affiliated with a Major League team. The next step down would the independent leagues. The next step down in affiliated baseball are the Dominican and Venezuelan summer leagues.

CubbyNick42

You can't say an affiliated minor league team sucks in the present tense. They have no players right now. They may have sucked last year, but there's no reason to think they will this year as a result - their roster will be completely overturned.

I remember that
They made a huge deal out of it because he went to my high school. I think he graduated the year before i became a freshmen.
all baseball players from Dunedin are cocky douchebags so that dosn't suprise me.

But we did win states last year and i guess most of the kids that were on the Dunedin little league team that made it to the little league world series a few years ago are coming as freshmen next year so Dunedin should be a dominant baseball town soon
